I know this is the way of the world now but it'd be nice to see young kids playing in a crap league just thinking about their football rather than likely doubling the cost of a transfer because they want a big signing on fee... And they're able to ask for it because they forcibly negotiated to have a sensible release clause in the last contract with the club that developed them.

Be surprised if we end up getting him, because what Benfica would ask for probably isn't worth it for his age and the style of player he is.

He's been absolutely incredible for them and Feyernoord the last two years. They paid £1m and £13m for him respectively the last two summers.

A lesson in improving our scouting.

Torres would allow us to play a 3-4-3 system (not saying we should), but something like this looks strong on paper...

-----------------Ramsey---------New----------------------------
Moreno---------Kamara------Luiz---------------McGinn
---------------Torres-----Mings-----Carlos------------------
----------------------------Martinez--------------------------------

Poor Konz 😔

Very disappointing that we never were in the race to sign Maddison who appears to be ending up at 8th placed Tottenham, surely if we'd gone for him we'd have had a good chance there. Maybe he was too expensive for us but he'd have been a massive upgrade on Buendia.

No. Lazy player off the ball compared to Buendia and he's a Villa hating Coventry boy that would never sign for us. Please stop

Money talks more than anything in this game, moreso than ever. A shame really but… it’s never going to change is it?

Saudis will take over eventually…

Can you imagine the absolute meltdown over signing a mid-20s player from Molde to be in our starting eleven? :D

Stop what. I'm giving my God damn opinion. Buendia might work harder but his productivity is far worse than Maddison. Either way we need an improvement on him. With Maddison going to Spurs hopefully we get Goncalves from Sporting.

But surely Levy wouldn't have not been telling the truth when he apparently told Simon Jordan that Spurs weren't in for Maddison?!?!?!

Simon won't be happy that he's been made a mug if this goes thorough

There would have been no meltdown if he cost £500k and meant we didn't have to play Ashley Young and 17 year old Chuk in centre mid 3 games into the season.

Very much doubt we'll sign him. He's probably not good enough for us any more.

There is an all in cost the market deems the right cost. Transfer Fee, Agents fee, players wages. If the Transfer fee is set low due to a release clause there is more available for the player and his agent. Why in the blue **** would the player want to save Real Madrid 5 or 10 extra million in money instead of him and his family getting it. He could have a career ending injury next week!

Clubs don't give a single **** about the players yet you think the players should for a club who wants to sign them

I wanted us to try and sign him for years but now I'm not bothered and I'm not sure why.

People believe what they want these days.

There's some who think Purslow didn't push to appoint Gerrard.
