We played with wingers under Smith quite often! According to Transfermarkt he hasn't played anywhere other than LB for 3 years, and even then it was three appearances at LM, probably to cover an injury. There's no way we've bought him as anything other than an option at LB.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Emery decided to throw him on late in a game as a winger to attack tired defenses but yeah I highly doubt we signed him to be a LW.

We have alot of dead money in this team thanks to Gerrard, Purslow and Lange. Absolutely. One down two to go.
MWARLEY2 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 He has huge pace huge acceleration and huge stamina. I am too old for FIFA but he is quicker than all the other left backs it seems in the prem.and 10 quicker than Targett and Digne whatever that means. 1

Brumstopdogs Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 If he signs then should be good competition for the left back spot with Digne. Seems like he has some pace which would be handy but wait until he gets to Villa Park and he turrns into a snail! 2
Icarium Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Maybe is a fan of this classic fm18 formation 1

The main thing is players become even more difficult to shift after 29/30, more so if they’re on PL wages. Our current POTS is Ashley Young, a 37 year old fullback. I think with modern sports science and top facilities like BH, if he stays injury free, we can easily get 4 strong seasons from him. 11

MWARLEY2 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Well. Judging him on his YouTube vid he will be the quickest fullback we have had on the books since kyle walker. He looks like he has an Ash Young type build so his age will not be as much of a problem as say a Rooney or Shaw
Tomaszk Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Something we can mostly all enjoy... Yet another categorical indictment of Steven Gerrard as a manager. The first signing made a year on from him is to replace his first signing. 3
Rich192 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Just realised that I’ve seen him play live, when Rayo Vallecano beat Levante 2-1 in May 2017 in the second tier. For that reason, I’m certain he’s going to be a star. 3
