Popular Post onmeedson
Unai got it wrong last night but he has earned the right to do so now and again, just wish it was against somebody else.
DJBOB
Agreed that Unai was very stubborn last night. And the thing is that he has this in his locker. He’s played in a more compact block, left two up top to do a 2v2 game. If everyone is fully fit, keep dominating them like we did vs City. But we had a back 4 that has never played together in the second half, a really poor passer in the double pivot. We still had our strengths up top (Watkins and Bailey). Let them win the game for us! Unai will be fine but a very stubborn approach (almost to prove a point) last night.

jjaacckk91
Is it just me that thinks that thinks he was confident in the tactics if the players could execute and was testing some of the players ability to execute. Yes it failed but as long as he/we learned what we need to from this we will be a better team come January. Yes it looks stubborn and ignorant on the surface and I think we can say cost us at least a point, but long term it could hold us in better stead. If we are still seeing stuff like this after we've got a squad full of his signings then it's worrying but last night that absolutely wasn't the case. Idk wishful thinking probably.
KentVillan
I think Unai is caught between taking each game on its own merits, Mourinho style, and implementing a long term style of football that is second nature to the players, Guardiola/Klopp style. At times it can look naive, but we know he isn’t naive. The bold managers who stick with a philosophy usually get the best results nowadays if they can get all the players firing. That’s what gets you on those big winning streaks that ultimately send you up the table.
Popular Post jacketspuds
What a year!!!! Thanks for making it the best 12 months I can remember in my time as a Villa fan. On to the next 12.
Mantis
What a job he's done for us this year. The dodgy Christmas period doesn't take off any of the shine. To go into the new year at least 3 points clear of 5th is phenomenal. This time 15 months ago we were sliding towards a relegation battle under Slippy G.
KevinRichardsonsMoustache
Unai when next asked what he thinks of our chances of winning the league: On a more serious note, we owe Unai a great deal. I have to think back a long way to remember feeling more proud as a villa fan. We’re not the finished article, nowhere near, but for once we have a coach who has a plan to get us there. Happy new year, Unai.
sharkyvilla
Thought he got it all spot on today. Really hard to juggle the players round Christmas especially with 4 or 5 key options missing.
Popular Post Tomaszk
Build. The. ****. Statue. A year at Villa Park beyond what any fan thought possible. Stupidly good. He'll know a horrible collapse will arrive if we play like the last 4/5 games into next year. I expect him to go back to basics for a bit with the team. 9

So 26 won in 2023, 2 games more than the previous record? (26 vs 24)? Edited December 30, 2023 by MaVilla

villanmac
Am I the only one seeing a massive nasty cut across his eye lid? Jesus, when Bruce turned up to a press conference with bruises and stitches all over his face I pissed myself laughing. With Emery im genuinelly full of worry and demanding answers as to why the club haven't got him under constant 24 hour protection.

Just looks a bit run down, pressure of the Prem really takes it's toll, he looks knackered, an I think as well as the players, he needs a good rest too. Jareth
Difficult to know how to react. It'll take some time and distance to look at what has just happened, in order to see it right. So I'm going on the reactions of neutrals. We are amazing and Unai is God.
