Tim Sherwood.

Close thread

That gif of him walking into Bodymoor with a Boots meal deal or whatever in his arms while he kicks the disabled access button to open the door will always make me laugh.

McLeish is a decent human being, but just a terrible managerial choice for us.

Indeed , he was also instrumental in keeping Jack Grealish at the club ,  Jack’s parents and agents were pushing for a move to Man Utd when he was 16 , we would have lost him for peanuts if it wasn’t for Alex McLeish,  All things bad with Villa and McLeish is all on Lerner

I think the fact Yorke retired in 2009 and has probably been about 200-300 job vacancies in England alone yet he seems to only want to manage in the top tier

Has he any coaching experience?

They were going to leave anyway and at the time a lot of people though CNZ would be an exciting signing after a good season at Wigan.

of course but we were down an extra creative player that was needed

He also got us the Scottish Cafu though, and we'd never have had THAT goal against the scum. That alone was worth a season of dross under MacLeish!!!

McLeish always wanted Nzogbia at SHA the previous year but he was demanding too much in wages so think he just got a bit obsessed with signing him. Simply not worth the wait at all.

Without really thinking, because there are probably a lot, the two that jump out are:

Paul Lambert; dour, mumbling useless unintelligible oaf.

Nigel Callaghan; after a great debut, turned into a lazy disinterested prick.

Sasa Curcic. Came to Villa for a payday and proceded party his career away while being our record signing at the time.

Collymore. Villa fan from Tamworth turned us down to play for Liverpool when we were a good team. Then came to us when his head was f'ed, and beat up Ulrika Johnson, and was generally shit for us.

N'zogbia, Ireland, Unsworth, most of the squad under Lambert all dishonourable mentions.

Manager has to be Remi Garde. To replace Sherwood with Garde is why we were not just relegated but last, and down by Christmas. Apart from MON, every manager Lerner appointed was a bad choice, and MON was the fans choice. That man should be banned from sports teams.

So worst owner is just about Tony Xia, from Lerner. One nearly sent us into administration, the other just didn't have a bloody clue how to run a football club. The worst decision maker I have ever seen, he was like a rich spoilt American Del-boy. Deadly wasn't great but he was generally a safe pair of hands.

You're not the first person to say Garde and I just do not get it? Yes he was crap but that's not really what this thread is about.

Heard on a podcast interview with Brian Little that Curcic missed a game to get a nose job done… no one had informed Brian beforehand either… what a joke…

Probably the earliest “disaster signing” I can remember…

Collymore… what a massive let down he was but that Atletico Madrid goal will live long in the memory… wow! And what a night!

He didn’t do badly but I remember Alan Thompson being quite underwhelming after we signed him… just remembered him because we also signed him from Bolton (like Curcic)… he was great there, some wonderful long range goals and free kicks but he failed to reproduce that kind of form with us… still lasted a while in JG’s team…

You can't blame Garde. Its like blaming the fireman arriving after the fire which was started by shoddy electrics. He was just a rabbit in the headlights and some of the big name player behaviour towards him in the team was a disgrace.

Didn't Ellis appoint MON? Think it was his last act before he sold. Lerner can't even claim credit for that one!
