These things always seem to happen when you're on a bad run. We've got a chance to get some momentum with Brighton Southampton and then Leeds. Two of those are teams we need to beat to get ahead of in the League. We just need a bit of luck. There's still plenty of time to finish the season strong. Needs to pick a system that suits what he has at his disposal rather than choosing his preferred system and then trying to fit players in. Yeah, my point is why did we throw Smith away if we weren't going to progress? Yeah we conceded a goal we shouldn't have. We still have time to turn the season around. The table doesn't look as grim as the mood currently is. Brighton lost at home to Burnley today. We have a chance if we don't let our heads drop. The Leeds game seems to have rattled the players. We created nothing and could easily have conceded 2 or 3 on the break but for Martinez. It's what happens when your full backs are supposed to be your main attacking outlet (one of them in his late 30s that has just subbed on). Hugely interesting talk on the radio other day about how Lage at Wolves has done exactly this. Started with one, particular system, saw that it wasn't working, and had the humility and intelligence to change this for a system that suited his squad. Wonder if Gerrard could ever do such a thing? Same as Arteta , they were even in the relegation zone when he tried to play the procession style from the old school counter attack. He was given time and are flying now.
