The complaints aren’t really about this game in isolation though, it’s knowing we’re in for another few years of uninspiring comfortable wins against poor opposition (I didn’t see Hungary so can’t comment) and then come undone when it matters. It’s seeing a continuation of Southgate doing annnoying, baffling things. The Germany game was easily the best game of Southgate’s England career and it wasn’t exactly a battering. Its just boring, I probably shouldn’t watch.
