lexicon
Attacking with some purpose today. The young lads seem up for it, Barry in particular seems to have shaken off his funk and is getting stuck into the game.
useless
That was an entertaining half, some of the lesser celebrated players like Lindley, Tommi O'Reilly, and Abldeen-Goodridge all having really good games, Chukwuemeka and Barry looking dangerous, great goals as well, brilliant assist from Tommi O'Reilly for Young's goal.
HalfTimePost
Nice pass from O'Reilly. Brad Young showing he's Jamie Vardy reincarnate again too.
lexicon
On a side note, this had been possibly the best refereeing I've seen at any level this season - really letting the game flow and not calling for every little bit of contact.

Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted January 24, 2022 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted January 24, 2022 That was a really good game, played with real intensity from both sides. At times we looked a little clumsy playing out from the back and in the first half particularly when they had two big, strong physical strikers on they put us under real pressure. I thought Reading pressed really well throughout the game and their captain, Osorio, was a pest for ninety minutes. Our recent form might be down to some extent to instruction, Gerrard is the first manager to insist that we play the same system for the U23's as the first team, so that adjustment is being played out on the pitches Bodymoor, you can see the changes happening and we're starting to settle into it. In the end, our quality was too much for them, Barry and Young were excellent I thought, Young is so aggressive, he gets right into a defender and he'll rough you up for fun given half a chance. Barry has a change of pace and quick feet that can kill you. Feeney was under more pressure than I've seen him be in the first half and he'll have learned a lot in this one, Lindley did well next to him. Early on Chukwuemeka and Kesler-Hayden were a little too hungry to keep the ball and would lose it, but the work of O'Reilly who was excellent and Iroegbanum who was brilliant in the end gave us the opportunity to let our better players play. On the ball, Chukwuemeka is incredible, he can take a ball surrounded by players and come out with it and he can run with a man on his back with his head up and the ball glued to his feet, he's a class act. There were a number of occasions when Iroegbanum was given poor passes that he had no right to win and came out striding forward with the ball, his ability to win balls and then do good things with them is a massive strength - his passing is also very strong and for me he was our man of the match. You can see why he's on the bench on matchdays. I thought Barber did well when he came on and Chrisene was quietly classy down the left all night. Goodridge also had a good game, working hard and making things happen and I was quite impressed with Afoka's pace and desire when he came on. It was a performance of moments; moments of concern at the back, moments of class up front and we got better as the game went on, fully deserving the win. Kesler-Hayden went down off the ball and seemed to have a problem with his knee - that's the only real bad point from tonight, I'm hoping it was nothing too serious but he didn't reappear. Great to see Chukwuemeka and Barry happy to have pictures with kids after the game and Delaney happy to chat with people beforehand and great too to get a chance to see the youth teams train on the pitches behind the stand before the match, with Jedinak and the coaches putting them through their paces. It remains a fantastic place to watch a football team and to reflect on just how good our academy is, both as a facility and in terms of the staff and the detail we're able to put into these young players. This club is in a very good place right now. 12
MWARLEY2
OBE i was watching on a crap stream on my mobile but i also thougbt big Tim was incredible tonight. Theres two exceptional parts to his game aren't there. His passing of 30 yd plus balls that he makes look as easy as a 5 yarder and the way he tackles so aggresively yet cleanly. As you say he can win balls he has no right to and then casually ping a ball to feet from 30 yards all day and all night. His win rate for tackles must be around 75 percent at this level surely. Anyway the question i have for you is do you think he is the long term solution at dm for us. Do you think he might have the quality to be that player at the very highest level ? I think that but then he has so much to his game that i then start thinking hes more box to box. Edited January 24, 2022 by MWARLEY2
OutByEaster? Posted January 24, 2022 Moderator Share Posted January 24, 2022 The answer is I dunno - it might sound weird but I think he might benefit from us signing another midfielder - it'll give him a chance to go out on loan and prove what he's got against proper first team players. He seems mentally strong, he's brave on and off the ball and he seems to make pretty good decisions - he's got a chance.
