U23 Development League 2021/2022

Only just realized that that must be James Wright on the bench. Maybe still a possibility for Tyreik Wright to find a loan, we don't normally use players in the U23s once they reach their twenties, so surprised we haven't found anything for him, Dominic Revan, Bridge, or Vassilev, as can't see them being used much for the U23s, as these games are needed to develop the younger players.

Was going to say that we will probably struggle in the second half of the season because we will be relying on a lot of players that have struggled as a group at U18 level.

And that's true to a degree both this season and the second half of last season, but looking at it closer up until Chrismas of last season the U18 team were doing well and looking like they had a good chance of winning the league, most weeks the starting eleven when they were doing well was...

Zych, Ealing, Appiah, Swinkels, Chrisene, Lindley, Bogarde, Raikhy, Sewell, Reddin, Young

Most of those players are available to us now, so could pick a similar team to see how they get on as a team at U23 level, they only started to struggle at U18 level when Young, Bogarde, Chrisene, and Raikhy were promoted to the U23s.

Of course Raikhy not available and Feeney will come in and others need game time as well, but we have got a nucleus of players available that have played very well as a team previously.

Very disappointing that these three couldn't get out, they just need to restart their careers elsewhere ASAP.

Front page stats updated. Villa drop to 5th after the most predictable defeat of the season (once we saw the first 11).

That was the 2nd youngest starting 11 this season after the one that was beaten 4-0 by Southampton in October. An average of just 18.08y/o and a squad of 18.00. Only 3 of the starters can call themselves regulars in 16 year old Feeney, along with Lindley & Thorndike.  Caolan McBride & Teddy Rowe make their first matchday squad of the season. Rowe comes on and McBride is an unused sub. Chisom Afoka also makes his first start of the season having been on the bench 3 times previously. Kahrel Reddin makes his first start since September and Charlie Lutz makes the bench for the second time this season and his first since October. Basically a kindergarten day out.

Elsewhere, Fulham did exactly what we expected against small heath and Sunderland and Forest played out a 1-1 draw.

Sunday 30/01
12:00 sha(13->13)          1-3 Fulham(1->1)

Monday 31/01

19:00 Sunderland(10->10)   1-1 Notts Forest(11->11)

Next up is another road trip. Meadow Lane and Notts Forest on Monday at 7pm.

They'e Feeney, Tommi O'Reilly, and Jayden Barber, Chrisene is there as well, the only other youngsters I could see in the full video are Iroegbunam and Chukwuemeka. He's not in that video or the latest training pictures, but Brad Young has been training with the first team as well, since coming back from his loan.

Definitely Barber, you're right - same hair as Thorndike.

I wouldn't have recognised O'Reilly - he looks much darker haired than that when you see him on the pitch!

If anyone was thinking of going to Nottingham for tonight's game - don't.

It's been moved from Meadow Lane to being behind closed doors at the clubs training ground.

On that basis, I think we can safely rule out any sort of decent coverage.

I hope this is correct ...
