Bundesliga back on May 16th. Something to look forward to.

The Bundesliga will resume behind closed doors on Saturday 16 May - and is the first European league to restart following the coronavirus shutdown.

One of the games on the day of relaunch will be the derby between Schalke and Borussia Dortmund.

Champions Bayern Munich, who are four points clear at the top of the table, travel to Union Berlin on Sunday.

Most teams have nine games to play, with the final weekend of the season rescheduled for 27-28 June.

The German Football Association (DFL) said the season would resume under strict health protocols that bans fans from the stadium and requires players to have Covid-19 testing.

Around 300 people, including players, staff and officials, will be in or around the stadiums during matchdays.

K league also starting its season tomorrow. No blowing of nose allowed!

Having largely ground to a halt around the world during the coronavirus pandemic, football is finally beginning to re-emerge.

In Europe, the German Bundesliga was given the go-ahead on Wednesday to resume behind closed doors this month, with the Turkish Super Lig set to follow in June.

But in one Asian country friendlies have already been played and a competitive campaign will belatedly get under way this week.

South Korea was one of the first nations outside China to be hit by a Covid-19 outbreak and consequently its K-League, scheduled to start in February, was postponed indefinitely while much of the world was still playing.

On Friday, their players will join those of Belarus, Burundi, Tajikistan and Nicaragua - where league football carried on amid the pandemic - in taking to the field competitively.

Jeonbuk Motors - who have been champions for the past three seasons - face Suwon Bluewings in the opening game.

As well as the exclusion of supporters, special safety measures will be in place, including the banning of handshakes, restrictions on players talking to team-mates, opponents and officials, and coaches having to wear face masks.

"Excessive spitting or blowing of the nose is prohibited and players should refrain from close conversations," said K-League communication officer Woo Cheoung-sik.

"During the game, players who habitually spit or talk closely will be warned."

The same people who vote Tory and cheers on their overlords with football chants and beer. Lad culture has destroyed the country.

Some offence intended but the K-League restarting has about as much bearing as if the Icelandic Cricket league restarted or that's OK for U2 to start touring because some guy and his kid is playing Guitar Hero on his PS4.

Norwegian league to start mid-June, behind closed doors. We seem to have things under control, so it should be safe enough, but not being allowed to go to games will be strange (but understandable, of course). I never miss a home game (literally missed maybe five over the past decade) and now I’ll probably the first couple of months of a season.

sure they can send Danny Murphy, he can moan that football is ruined by players not being allowed to sneeze on the pitch or just moan about how the atmosphere is not as good as White Hart Lane

I see Noel Whelan (that bloke no one remembers as player and now thinks he knows everything) is saying players should be fined if they don’t want to play if the league restarts. :bang:. Yes god forbid players to be worried about a National pandemic. What a rocket polisher he is
