markavfc40
A 36 year old nurse and 38 year old nurse have now died leaving behind 3 children each. Are people really still questioning just how serious all this is and if we are going over the top in the measures we are taking. 1

I was going to reply but I just can’t summon the energy. How any intelligent, thinking person, can think this is anything but catastrophic is beyond me. I wouldn’t care much, except those are the people who are going to make it almost impossible to deal with.

It's the new divide, Brexit is old news, you're now either 'economy first' or 'people first'.

I think it's wrong to describe what is going on here as a lockdown. Especially compared to what other countries are doing.

Cheers Thanks for amplifying what I consider to be one of my best put downs, I literally thought it up in the bath, I have nothing better to do. Anyway, please do explain how those in power are not in any way responsible for the 684 deaths today - much appreciated.

It is an experiment, everywhere. And as we don't know the outcome I would be foolish to presume on way is better than the other. And different approaches probably work in different ways depending of social stucture, economy, geography and probably a ton more variables. Here is the google tracking data by country and regions. I don't get it and I just don't see how you can become that detached from it all and that if what is happening nationally/globally isn't touching you that you don't, or won't have soon, instances in your own life that don't bring home to you how serious this all is. Just this afternoon I walked in on my wife in tears in my house as first she heard of the 36 year old nurse with 3 children who worked and has now died in a hospital less 5 miles from where we live and then another nurse who passed away at 38 and also had 3 children. My wife is also a nurse so has that kinship I guess that goes beyond what some of us may feel at that news although most of us will be cut up by it. Also my daughters boyfriend is an electrician and had to go to a Sikh temple today to wire in some fridges that he thought were going to be for food. He gets there and they have big tents set up outside with huge fridges in for dead bodies. It has really knocked him about and upset him. I just don't get how you can be looking at all this and thinking the reaction is OTT. I hope it is though as where life is concerned I'd much rather air on the side of caution and will happily argue the toss afterwards with anyone who wants to say we over reacted. When we have those who are trying to save others dying though then sorry you can stick your we are being over the top bollocks where the sun don't shine.
