Thanks for posting someone else's tweet :P

But seriously, almost no-one thinks Labour can get a majority, not even most Labour politicians - we remember that they were basically all terrified of an election and voting against one in the run up to the end of October. In part, rightly to stop "No Deal", but absolutely they didn't want one because they knew they'd lose seats not gain them, as well.

From the BBC live page:

Quote

Patel: UK in 'early stages' of Australia immigration talks

The government is in the "early stages" of discussions with Australian authorities about using parts of their points-based immigration system as a blue-print for the UK, says Home Secretary Priti Patel.

She says the election limits what she can say about the policy development

That's a novel outlook on how elections are supposed to work.

They did the correct thing by stopping no deal, but that was definitely an accidental by-product of them shitting themselves over an election and blocking it for that reason 🙄

Again, thank for the input.

I think it's quite interesting to see the opinion of someone who has been involved in electoral analysis, polling and so on for eons and to see him be quite so definitive (as much as one can safely be, in his words).

It's like seeing the opinion of someone with expertise rather than you or me or Labour politicians.

Interesting that Boris isn't changing to Rutland after all. Also quite pathetic that the Lib Dems have appended 'to stop Brexit' after their party name.

And Count Binhead is the Original Lord Buckethead. The current Lord Buckethead is a different one.

"'to stop Brexit' after their party name. is a good move, isn't it?

I think it was Blair that started the living at Number 11 (as its bigger), he made Brown live in the attic at Number 10

Buckethead is brilliant, has he come up with a new manifesto because his last one was superb!

I don't think it should be allowed, personally (that goes for all 'messages ' for all parties; I seem to recall UKIP doing something similar recently, and I didn't like that either).

EDIT: Sorry, I realise when you say it's 'a good move', you maybe mean it will be effective? In which case, yes, I agree it might be very marginally effective in races decided by margins in two figures.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. I think there will be quite a lot of tight calls in the election, and from their perspective, the LDs making absolutely clear to people "Stop Brexit" is a leaf out of the "Brexit Party" Ltd book. Sure, single issue, but this election is because Brexit.

Is that allowed on the ballot paper, or have they officially changed their name to "The lib dems: to stop Brexit" ?

Parties can either use their official name or a description that they've registered with the electoral commission. They registered it earlier in the year.

Think they used it in the European elections on the ballot papers as well.

I assume in Swinson's seat they'll be running as 'Jo Swinson - to stop Brexit', given how she appears somewhat allergic to acknowledging the party she leads.

Better than the more accurate 'Piss Tories' I guess.
