One is Akpom with him at Boro (105 minutes per goal), the other is Stewart at Sunderland (104 minutes per goal). (Of players with over 10 games worth of minutes). He's one of the best strikers in the championship, and the only two that are better than him are in their prime. We'd be creaming if we were signing him for less than 20m. But he's already ours. Boro as a whole are scoring a lot more than their xG I think Cam will be given the full time of pre season up to end of August deadline before a decision is made. zab6359 Posted April 20, 2023 Share Posted April 20, 2023 I think getting a contract until 2027 means he is highly thought of, pre season will be huge for him that'll be be when a decision is made whether he goes back out on loan or gets a place in the first team squad, hindsight is great but would be interesting to see his stats if he had been at Boro all season. If Archer is knocking in them at a higher rate because he is clinical, his goals will exceed his xG. So can you explain why is this a concern for you? Every striker that scores goals in out perfomring its xG. its a rubbish Metrix that needs to be kicked out of Football for good. For example. Haaland is massively over performing his xG too. Is it in the corner or in the middle of the goal. Does the keeper get a hand to it . The answer to those is he finishes with deadly accuracy. He hits the corners of the goal and the goalie rarely gets a hand to it . He lashes with supreme control. As others have said he will always outperform xg because he is a better than average goalscorer As an aside how cool was it to have 2 of the top performing strikers in world football last weekend.
