KenjiOgiwara
spurs will come out with fire in the second half. Hope we can have some luck and ride it off
sne
Understandably the Swedish studio experts are focusing more on what Spurs are doing and not doing than on what Villa are doing well. But still nice to hear they actually have watched Villa and are read up on us. Fwiw one of the commentators (Pontus Kåmark ex Leicester) branded Heaton as one of the best keepers in the world before the game. The half time analysis on point in the studio. AVTuco Posted August 10, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted August 10, 2019 McGinn's goal was fabulous. The way he fooled Rose to the ground and only then let the shot go.... magnificent!

Agreed. This is the main and perhaps only thing that really need improvement. Attacking game will be better if they manage to do this.

Guest av1
Wesley has had a difficult first half but he hasn't been as useless as some of you are making out imo.
thunderball
Everyone is doing OK, and we can only improve, we are not at our best, still rusty. Trez will be dangerous this season, you can see he will get goals and create them, he has given Spurs something to think about. Our midfield is still waiting to click. We just need to keep up the battling spirit and above all: concentration and discipline. It won’t end 0-1, more drama ahead

He has worked his socks off and has never stopped showing for the ball. Let’s get behind him You might want to have a word yourself pal, Sounds like my apprentice on a wet Monday morning who don't want the graft! Norwegian studio is so gutted. They couldn't wait for spurs to win, and Smith & co has basically ruined their evening. And it's always like this with the usual suspects. Khizzy
We need to get a defensive midfielder on (Luiz, as Marvelous isn't on the bench) to stabilise the midfield. We're a goal up so we should just try and make sure we're not overrun by Spurs in the second half.
MikeMcKenna Posted August 10, 2019 VT Supporter Share Posted August 10, 2019 I wouldn’t give Wesley stick. He is keeping their CBs occupied and creating space for others.

penguin
Weird how people see things differently. Wesley has been fine and a constant occupation for the defenders including for the goal in which he drew in and bullied Sanchez, think the lazy calls are very harsh especially as it's such a thankless task being the lone striker for a team with >30% of the ball and his first competitive game for us.
villalad21
Smith has showed that he is able to adapt his tactics against better teams. Very impressed. No matter the result at the end of the game i'm proud of our team.

Ponky
Ref made some crucial interceptions for Spurs that half. They're going to score this half I'm sure but the good news is we look like we have more goals in us. I know Wes has been frustrating so far, but he did some crucial work distracting the defenders to let SJM skate through unmarked for his Goal. Can I just say Tyrone Mings is a bit of a hoof merchant... But one of the very best hoofers in the game.

We'd be mad to change the midfield as is, they've been excellent so far and that would destabilise things if anything.

There's no pressure in this game, everyone's expecting Spurs spanking us and if it happens, so be it. We've shown in our first half back, we're not here to mess around. Agreed. Whatever happens over the next 45mins there have been enough positives to instill confidence for the rest of tbe season
