Match Thread: Spurs v Villa

Recommended Posts

Dean Smith needs to have a word with Wesley, he's played shit this half. Doesn't look like he's bothered to hassle or defend from the front, really disappointed so far

Agreed. Certainly not the car crash many were predicting before KO.

Yeah, it's almost like Dean Smith knows what he's doing

Don't get all the criticism for Wesley. Was involved in our 1st goal by holding off the defender.

A few things of note:

- We need to stay on our feet more (particularly El Ghazi)

- We are very, very, very deep. That will invite more pressure than we want.

- Engels has been fantastic!

The only disappointing thing about that half was that my bottle opener snapped under duress

We've done well overall, Wesley looks well off where we need him to be

Wouldn't surprise me if we lost 2-1

I’d forgotten how high my blood pressure gets during villa games!

they've been great. Some lapses of concentration which might cost us but we are really well organised.

Wesley probably needs a bit of time to adjust to the level of “accepted” physicality in the league. Trez looks exciting, super john looks every bit the 50 million euro player Utd need instead of pogba!

can we close out the game? I don’t know. But I do know the villa are playing last years champions league finalists and don’t look off the pace!

Biggest surprise so far: how brilliant Taylor has been.

Biggest disappointment: Wesley - stop falling over!

Also, I may have to revise my doubts about Mings.

Super John McGinn. Got a feeling the pl was made for him.

Wesley played a huge part in the goal, using his strength. He's done fine so far for his debut.

Kept our heads and shape nicely and grew in confidence and into the game. Engels has looked fantastic so far, Trezeguet looks like a handy player. Wesley is obviously going to a while to get up to speed. Mcginn player of the half for me . Good start but need to keep it up.

Really solid looking first half. Deano has a good HT record, so fingers crossed as Poch will have Spurs come out hard in second half.

Happy with that half. There's no pressure in this game, everyone's expecting Spurs spanking us and if it happens, so be it. We've shown in our first half back, we're not here to mess around.
