allani Posted April 15, 2023 Share Posted April 15, 2023 He played like Pirlo today. Ran the entire game at the speed he dictated. Probably the best midfield performance I have seen from a Villa player in 25 years. There were so many times when it looked like he was going to play the ball one way and then slipped the ball through to someone else and creating a huge hole because the Newcastle press was going in the wrong direction. The trouble was that the rest of the team weren't on the same page as him and so either weren't where he expected them to be or weren't making the runs he was expecting. Now we are playing proper football his clever first time passes or feints are beginning to work. As other players get more comfortable on the ball too - it is no longer a case that teams just need to press Luiz to win the ball back as everyone else was looking to get the ball forward as quickly as possible.
