Very interesting comment about our team spirit.

I cannot wait for the summer as someone alluded to, there are some bad eggs in the squad at the moment.

As much as I don't like Howard Hodgson, he has a point here.  You can see it on the pitch that certain players just don't care enough to be bothered.  They're simply going through the motions and doing just enough to not be dropped, to put themselves in the shop window for another club to pick them up next summer.  Bolasie, Thor, Kodja, and Hourihane are the main offenders for me.  Hutton tries, but just isn't good enough and the jury is still out on Taylor for me.

So both assumptions then with no fact?

Preston 1 - 1 Villa

Villa 2 - 2 QPR

Villa 0 - 3 Swansea

Wigan 3 - 0 Villa

Villa 2 - 2 Hull

News Headline: Bolasie ends Villa loan spell.

Pretty miserable month as far as I am concerned. Should not be dropping points against those teams. Something isn’t right.

Bolasie leaving might not be the worst thing, but the fact he has said he doesn’t want to be here suggests something hasnt gone according to plan somewhere...

Could be Smith laid into many stars along with owners and any other staff. I think someone has told this bunch of players that its time to sort it out or youll be gone, if it is the case i cant be surprised because of the way they are playing. Really I can see Smith being the next Ferguson in the locker room because our players need a good hiding the way things are going on lol.

I wonder if something was said to Bolasie and moreira for wasting money and not doing there jobs. Sure the pressure was on Bolasie more because he actually played most games and never did a thing, he just looked like 70k a week waste of space, full of hot air and nothing more.

It certainly sounds and feels like something has been said to each and everyone of our players doesn't it.

I have an idea why dont we employ someone to head up the playing squad, and take responsibility for non performing players, whip the lazy ones into shape ....

I would bet every penny i own that smith gets no where Alex Fergusson levels. outrageous comparison in any context.

Smith is a Mickey Mouse manager. much as we wish he wasnt.

Ok....so why arent we doing that ?

why are players strolling through our defence ...even in smiths better patch ?

what you are asking doesnt sound unreasonable . ...so why doesnt it happen ?

Now that is the tricky bit....I can only speculate like anyone else.

we buy the wrong type of character....we panic buy....because we have been trying to get out of this league, like a prisoner in a concentration camp, for seasons now.

We look at things in the recruitment process that seduce us, when we buy...like goal scoring record or set piece specialist.....but we all know, to be a complete player you need to tick more boxes...we have too many players who can't do certain things and when we have too many the same bingo, there's a team problem, because certain jobs are not being done.

  • Gestede
  • Whittingham
  • Hogan

Scored lots of goals before they come and then .....desert.

I think Dean Smith knows....but doing something about it is a different kettle of fish.....who wants to sell in January?

what are the certain things they cant do ?

would our u23's be able to do these things ?

will the players we buy be able to do these things ?

its all sort of centering around this head coach geezer being able to do his job........or not.

  • I don't know why we are not doing it, why have so many players that have gone not done it, either.?.....I guess Dean Smith himself would love to know?
  • They are strolling through our defence.. because they are being allowed to, In the same way Hutton went through Blues Defence, not being challenged sufficiently.
  • Why it Doesn't happen is the 64 million dollar question....maybe because as a club there is not enough emphasis on it.

When was the last time we produced a really good defender from the academy.....Gareth Barry?....I guess Clark and Baker was not bad, judging by current standards.

When did we last produce our own ball winner/DM, how much focus do we put on finding one?....When was the last Goalkeeper we developed for the first team?

We keep saying we have a good academy....we are 13th in the championship and they are not good enough to play according to most people.

whats that all about, if we was in the top half of the prem, I might be a bit less critical.

You watch the games as well as I do....can't you see what they aren't doing.....I just spelt it out in my posts.

Watch our play, particularly when we haven't got the ball....they are just a bit better when we have it, well some of them anyway.

  • I have no idea if the u23's can do it, but if the experienced players are not following instructions or failing to do the basics, why not let one at least have a go....its not like we are in the play offs and can't afford a slip up....we can't buy a win.
  • Well before we part with our well earned money, do you not think its worth finding out if these players can do, whats missing from our matchday game....what are we paying scouts for?

This Head coach of ours has been here a wet day in footballing terms.....all the things I am talking about have been with us for years.

He has to have the time and latitude to make his mark.....Personally, I would not want to take over this squad.

ps Roy Keane was having issues with Gabby about working....its been endemic.

why do we have these players that cant do certain things ?

have they ever done them ?

can we employ someone to make them do those certain things ?

Im seeing a disorganised defence and a set of players lacking beleif in manager who has never won anything as a player or a coach. See Graham Turner mid 1980s.

I don’t think anyone believes Dean Smith is the next Fergie, I think the poster was suggesting he may be a similar character regarding letting rip at the players. I equally don’t think many people, perhaps just you, believe he is a Mickey Mouse manager. In fact it is a baffling thing to call our manager, after such a short period of time, such a childish name.

I don’t know, none of us can read the future, if he will be a success or not. What I do know is, that after being badly run for 10 years we finally have some credible owners who have put a very strong back room team, including a CEO who was one of the architects of FFP. If these people have decided that Dean Smith is the man to lead the squad through this vital and very challenging period in our future, then I believe that the very least they deserve is respect for that decision. I also believe that as fans we should get behind everyone who is working towards the future of Aston Villa. I don’t mean anyone is above criticism, mistakes will be made as they always are, but we can offer constructive criticism without being abusive.

This can’t be a quick fix, nothing this broken can be easily put back together. It is going to take time, support and a lot of patience. We all need to stick together, owners, staff and fans. If we want to succeed we have no choice.

So smith can be compared to fergie - but not Mickey Mouse.

I think he is so poor and so out of depth that people get protective of him.

whats he ever done ?

Everybody has to start somewhere and who would you have instead a proven championship specialist because that didn't work as we all know

Its not like we call guerdiola to save us

Its not even his team if this time next year we are still getting results like we are I would agree with you but  for now I have  to give him a chance
