Smith deserves criticism when he does something wrong. And Burnley scored 2 lucky goals. If we had subbed traore and mcginn off against burnley we would have been pressing outwide and in the middle so we prevented the balls coming in. Yes it was pure luck in those games. The opposition have also scored our goals for us. Jack Grealish isn't on the number of assists he has as they're all lucky deflections into the path of our attackers who miskick the shot but it takes deflections into the goal. I think you misunderstand criticism. The other 9 fantastic performances were just that: Fantastic. Full credit to smith. This performance against Southampton wasn't horrible either. We play some good football. But answering 3 subs with none in a game where there were some under-performing players and escaping thanks to the closest of VAR calls is lucky.
