I really hope that person was really drunk :D

Nope completely sober.

Smith deserves criticism when he does something wrong. And Burnley scored 2 lucky goals. If we had subbed traore and mcginn off against burnley we would have been pressing outwide and in the middle so we prevented the balls coming in. Pretty obvious.

But in terms of actual points his in game management has been good

Just 5 points 'lost' in last 30 mins of games all season

1 was away at Man U (dodgy pen against), 1 was at Man City - after he'd made all 3 subs + dodgy offside

So basically 1 game so far this season where he's 'cost us' with lack of subs (and thats based on the huge assumption subs 100% would have seen us through)

I'll take that, no manager is perfect

How many points won in the last 30 minutes. Because when we haven't scored first we haven't won any game. Out of 7. So it is completely fair to make this criticism. In fact we have only got 2 points in those 7 games which is abysmal.

Only failed to win 1 game  in 11 when taken the lead and let’s face it that was a bit of freak result.  Yet Smith doesn’t know how to see a game out...

How many points have we got when conceding first?

Again you missed the point. When we were 1-0 up we had lots of good chances to make it 2-0. Unfortunately we didn't and they scored in the second half to make it 1-1. Had we gone 2-0 up which we should have done Burnley don't come back into the game. In fact we would have ended up with 3 maybe 4.

You are missing the point. We have missed chances all season and we will continue to do so in the future. We should have scored more but that is irrelevant. We didn't and if Smith managed the game differently we probably would have gotten a different result.

Wrong question. Who are the managers that don't make substitutions at all after playing a game mid-week where substitutions came late and kicking off with the same starting line-up?

I can count them on 1 finger.

Criticism where it is due. That was poor from Smith and a lucky result doesn't change that.

How about the other 9 fantastic performances and results? Or were they just lucky?

Yes it was pure luck in those games. The opposition have also scored our goals for us. Jack Grealish isn't on the number of assists he has as they're all lucky deflections into the path of our attackers who miskick the shot but it takes deflections into the goal.

You are trolling surely? 14 hours later and you’re still going.  We have a game in hand that would put us in contention of champions league places at half way through the season.  We have things to improve on of course but jeez you a dog with a bone with this.

... I think you misunderstand criticism.

The other 9 fantastic performances were just that: Fantastic. Full credit to smith.

This performance against Southampton wasn't horrible either. We play some good football.

But answering 3 subs with none in a game where there were some under-performing players and escaping thanks to the closest of VAR calls is lucky. As stated earlier, subs bring benefits to any game:

Quote
  • Get fresh legs on the pitch
  • Give Southampton something else to think about tactically
  • Break up the opposition flow

Love it!

Southampton, Man City, Liverpool and Leeds will be our hardest games until the end of the season and we've just beat one of them. It's just their style of play is our kryptonite. We beat Liverpool because we executed their kryptonite perfectly but against Leeds and man city we didn't.

It doesn't matter how many subs we make those teams are just horrible for us to play against.
