Match Thread: Derby v Villa

Once Jedinak is in I will be less nervous about gifting other teams chances. But we desperately need a creative midfielder and another striker to really improve us going forward. Despite hitting the woodwork twice we have created pretty much bugger all else, despite having what seems like 75% of possession.

Don't care if he hit the post. Gardner offers so little. Doesn't tackle, doesn't make passes, doesn't cover space.

Poor.

He's not good enough for a team that wants to get promoted. Should be sold and replaced with a proper midfielder.

Hmm. Started well, the better side over 45 minutes, hit the woodwork twice and generally looked decent - albeit without creating too many clear cut chances - the longer it went on, the more Derby looked like they might do something.

The number one influence on all of the games in our season this far has been confidence - if we score early in the second half, we could go on to win this well - if we don't I think our nerve will be in for a big test. Confidence is brittle.

Decent half. Gardner is still a weak link but he's not been awful and unlucky not to score. Chester, Bacuna, Grealish and especially Westwood are all having good games.

Jedinak and a better striker to lead the line would help a lot here, and Amavi in a LB.

So frustrating, if we were the slightest bit clinical in the final third we'd p*ss this league - even with our weakened midfield pairing you can see how vulnerable the supposed better teams are.

Would be no surprise to once again see the other team improve in the second half and we concede another silly one.

Well at least were not losing.

? We should be winning. Derby have played poorly and are there for the taking. We just need two better cms to dominate more and get mccormack into the game.

A relatively comfortable first half for us, wish we'd just get a bit of luck though. Gardner has been quite poor again and Kozak is useless.

Derby will surely come out a lot better in the second half which worries me though.

We're in total control though.

As Trent said earlier, put Jedinak/Tish and a striker into this team and we're a bloody good side for this division.

The difference between those two and what we currently have in midfield is huge. Add Amavi to that and we would look decent. Need to play Ayew more central imo.
