KJT makes my list of athletes who have literally never done anything except underperform every time I watch them. Obviously the athletes on this list must be good, because I rarely watch athletics and people who do always talk about them like they're important, but every time I see them they do terribly. Martin Rooney and Renaud Lavillenie also founding members of this club.

Lavillenie is the world record holder and defending olympic gold!

KJT is disappointing though. She just sucks at throwing, needs to get more power in her upper body. She's perfectly built for the hurdles, mid distance and jumps.

KJT has a lot of class but seems very fragile. Her points ceiling for the Heptathlon is greater than Jess'. She could easily take another half a second off her hurdles and 200m times, improve her shot put & Javelin by a few meters and then she will be getting into Kluft territory.

Yeah, he is. Always underperformed when I've seen him though.

Not sure if KJT just has the same facial expression variety as Ayew but she always just looks defeated the moment the throwing events are about to start. Her & Thiam were miles clear of everyone else in the high jump, She is fast on the track and has a potentially very good long jump (although she is also a bit fragile here and prone to a first jump foul completely ruining the event for her).

She is still young but doesn't seem to be progressing at all in the field events, if anything she is getting worse due to complete lack of technique & confidence. No idea how she can continually finish top 6 when she doesn't even have a basic grasp of the mechanics required to throw a shot & Javelin more than the distance a strong gust of wind could take them.

Maybe she should pack in the heptathlon and focus on the high Jump. The 1.98 she jumped is only 11cms of the womens high jump world record which has stood for nearly 30 years and only 3 actual specialist high jumpers have been higher this year.

The gold in the high jump tomorrow is likely to only be 2.03 - 2.05 and 1.98 would be top 6, maybe even with an outside chance of bronze

Far too early to give up yet! - especially as she has the potential to get up to 7000. She also will clean up in the indoors for years to come (no Javelin!)

Tony Minichello could be out of work soon and would be an ideal coach to take her to the next level.

I have to say I just dont think that Farah or Bolt are clean, maybe thats the cynicism this Olympics have brought

as for Bolt, if he is dirty it would be the end of Olympics as a spectacle

Just switched over to the water polo before the pommel horse final, thought to myself "wow they've solved the water problem then" as the pool was full of crystal clear water.  Then I noticed the lane markings on the tiles at the bottom of the pool, one way to avoid playing polo in fart-smelling water at least!

Edit, and crumbs.  Shocking news about Ryan Lochte being robbed at gunpoint by people posing as police.

Draining the pool and refilling it over night from a structural point of view is dangerous as ****, when I've built them in the past we've taken a week to drain them and then 2-3 weeks to refill them and even with that time I've seen one slip, it's an incredible amount of a weight shift, we could also only heat the pool half a degree an hour

Well only because of the team Farah associated with but for me he's our greatest ever athlete. Its  a travesty if he never gets to win a sports personality of the year award when you think of the athletes that have won it.  He could equal the great Fin Lasse Viren. Now there has always been question marks about him blood doping. Mind you unlike Farah he never did anything until the Olympics came around.

They've moved the water polo (and synchronised drowning) into the swimming pool they did the races in, away from the smelly green pools of doom.  From what I can read, they tried treating the water polo pool with soo much chloring that athletes couldn't keep their eyes open.

And well done to Justin Rose for the golf gold (whether or not the sport should be here, or whether they could have envisaged another format is something for another time).  Wrapped it up just in time for the pommel horse final as well.

I won't be shocked if Bolt pops at some point. He's very lonely on the list of fastest ever 100m times once you start crossing our dopers, and there's anyways been questions about Jamaica's testing regime. Especially as they came out of nowhere to dominate the sprint events en masse and more than a few have been caught out in the following years.

But there is also the fact Bolt is obviously a bit of a genetic freak regardless. Has the build of a sprinter but with greater height. He could be a one in a million.

Farah I think is fine. East African heritage with top level pro training,

Brilliant pommel horse gold for whitlock! What a great gymnast.

Louis smith gets silver, obviously disappointed but what a sour face - especially when one of your own has come first!

Never liked Louis Smith and like you say, he looked sour there. If he'd done the harder routine himself he could've won but he bottled it.
