"Everton showed there quality in the end". Obviously he thinks Everton are far superior to shitty old Villa who he pay his wages. Unfortunately this is the culture of the club now. Players admitting we can hardly play against certain teams, like the top 10. Even just last season we were giving a good game to the likes of Liverpool. This season it seems the belief is we have lost even before we have started. Dread the think what they gonna say after Man City score 7+ against us. "Its not worth trying, its Man City", maybe. Yes! I am so glad I wasn't the only one angered by Micah Richards post match comments. He almost shrugged his shoulders and talked about the quality of Lennon and Everton being too much for us minnows. Lennon a player who has been on the periphery for a while, struggling to get a first team place whilst Sherwood spoke of Richards going to the Euros in the summer. He could prove to be to worst signing this club has ever made and his arrival has exacerbated a lazy, passion less pit of woe of a mentality that has been eating away for a while. As someone has previously said there is a reason he was never getting a stretch in any team. He keeps saying how they tried and showed fight this after a 3-1 loss at home. Is that the same fight he said they were showing that led to a 1-1 draw with Wycombe. He speaks like we are a Conference side putting up a good fight. Who are you trying to kid?! I don't buy it. You're captain of Aston Villa F.C. Act like a captain! How about trying to integrate the new players instead of doing naughty santa videos? As for his beloved Man City he sounded like he didn't want to play it. Show some pride. There are League 2 players who would love to play at the Etihad because they would see it as an opportunity. The attitude stinks. If it is true about Gabby ruling the roost then I fear in Richards and Lescott he has a few sidekicks. Reports say they aren't happy with Gardes training as it is too much fitness based. A team bottom of the league with by far the lowest distance covered in the distance complain about working on fitness. It doesn't work like that you bunch of idiots. Everyone is hiding. The board hide behind the manager and the players hide whatever way they can. I agree with a previous post about Joe Cole. For what it is worth I would of gave him the armband and put him in the centre of the park. Leicester, Watford, Bournemouth are not exactly littered with £30 million players but they are above us. Maybe because they have some professional pride. The attitude stinks and they are getting quite an easy ride with our discontent towards the board. I can't wait for it to be flushed out and get some pride back in the place but I fear with these clowns on cushty contracts picking up an easy pay cheque it might take a while.
ferguson1
Can't disagree with any of the post above to be honest. Richards is quite simply a terrible club captain and must be such a poor influence on the rest of the squad. Petty of me here I know, but the fact he chews gum during games really bugs me too, smacks of cockiness and arrogance. As I said in my previous post in this thread, our first signing in the summer needs to be our new captain! Again, I am really not sure who or what position but we need a real leader and someone that sets an example to the rest. Quite simply, we so lack a Barry, Petrov etc Edited March 4, 2016 by ferguson1

Still, they get well paid and should definitely try harder and compete. The defenders are indefensible in my opinion. Pub players would do better! Bendall was an absent owner....but it didn't stop us winning the league.....I think that one is a bit of a red herring, to be honest. However, equally I do share the view there has to be an air of authority, discipline and decisiveness about the place and I think that has been missing and that is down to Lerner not appointing the correct Management. theboyangel
Yes, we certainly appear to have a deeply embedded culture of unprofessionalism and laziness at the club. It would be one of the reasons, I would look to get of Gabby - our longest serving player. Houllier came in and tried to change our training dynamics and faced squad opposition, Garde has done the same with the same result. I got the feeling certain players liked Timmy because it was all a laugh and a bit of a boys club.
TRO
In a general sense, I get the impression from some fans think that certain footballer attributes are a given.....and they are not.....They should be, but they usually reflect the club. we seem to talk about technical ability in every sentence......we mention tactics at every opportunity. Rarely do I hear the essentials of Character, drive, meanness, toughness, durability, Resilience, Will, Heart....Desire. Ron Saunders by word was 110% work rate.....Bill Shankly had similar values. Some fans baulk at such comments as if they are all statutory, they are not......The club has to culture it. While it is levelled we are not good enough......It could be argued that if some of the above attributes where employed, we could have stayed up. we are a bunch of sorry arses. AVTuco Posted March 5, 2016 VT Supporter Share Posted March 5, 2016 (edited) It's a bit sad because I used to love reading player threads and discussing/arguing a bit. Now I don't read them at all. There's no one to be a fan of. Yep, they've even ruined that piece of fun in my life. Edited March 5, 2016 by AVTuco
dudevillaisnice
No effort, no desire, very little quality. Shameful. Forget promotion next season it's not dropping again that is the main concern if we keep this lot.
Popular Post Nicho
Ive never seen a team where if you get dropped for poor form all you have to do is wait for your replacement to play even worse for you to get back in the squad.
Mantis
There are some players who I think could be useful next season but it's critical that people like Gabby, Guzan, Lescott, Richards etc are shipped out.
