piav_k4
I'd say sacking 2 managers in 6 months shows a pretty high level of bumbling around. The sacking of Lambert was proved a very good decision. After Sherwood kept us up last season, 10 games is a fair crack of the whip.Hardly bumbling around...

Stevo985 Posted October 27, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) So here's a thought, whilst we all muse on who it will be next, whether Garde, or someone else...Appy Arry was in the Metro the other day saying a manager only makes at most 10% difference to the fortunes of a club and the rest is down to the quality of the players. I think he could well be right, but if he is that makes his role even more vital if the margins of influence are so small. It also provides the likes of Sherwood and other sh*te managers with a handy get out because they can always say they weren't his players and the ones he got just weren't good enough. Fact is, we are where we are (up the creek) and we need someone with intelligence to make the best of our squad and give it a shot - a workman who likes working and won't blame his tools. The more I think about it, Remy fits this criteria. Sure it may not work, but even if we go down, I think he could help us build something interesting. I'm all for it. That's because Harry Redknapp is an absolute word removed Edited October 27, 2015 by Stevo985

That was bumbling around. This is not.

Swerbs
Why do we need to speak Lyon? Very rarely hear (if at all) of clubs refusing to let staff go, it's a matter of compensation. My guess is that isn't the full (true) story as to why it's has stalled (if it has)Happened with Norwich when Lambert wanted Culverhouse and Karsa. There wasn't much messing about re the sackings bar Lambert as Stevo points out.Is it a wider recruitment issue? I'm not sure. Lambert was the fans choice, Sherwood completed his remit in the short term. The two before were stinkers mind.

hippo
I think the manager has much more influence than 10%.Maybe the point Harry was trying to make is that the owners, directors, create and environment in which a good manager can thrive. Not sure we have that.

Popular Post TrentVilla Posted October 27, 2015 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Blimey, it's all gone a bit transfer window mental in here in the last 24 hours.Every single window it happens and every single window I say the same thing, the main stream media these days are normally miles off with their speculation. Its always the same, something gets out in foreign press or social media and then our fans pick it up then our media react with their exclusives while frantically trying to catch up with the story. Then they get ahead of events in their desperation to be first with the news in order to sell advertising. Once ahead of the story they then hit a bit of deadend while they wait for events to catch up with their copy. We've seen it so so many times it's untrue, yet people are so eager to know what is happening the integrity of the story or those peddling it isn't really questioned.I seriously doubt discussions with Garde started yesterday, I would imagine he and other potential candidates have been spoken to over the last couple of weeks while Sherwood was a dead man walking. We were certainly in touch with Sherwood before Lambert went and around the time Fox was talking about false narratives! I believe Sherwood even attended a couple of Lamberts last games, thus the comment pre Swansea from Sherwood he would be looking up to see who was in the directors box.So while the media are reporting talks have hit a snag over an assistant remember the talks were going on way before they got wind of them and even while they were reporting various other names as being the likely candidates. If we want Garde and I believe we do I'm sure any issue over back room staff will be resolved, as they always are and as they were previously when we had the dispute with Norwich. At the end of the day it's players registrations that clubs can hold onto against the wishes of a player. That doesn't apply to employees like coaches and their contracts with notice periods. It might be a bit messy or even costly but if they want Garde and he wants his old back room team Im sure that is what will happen. In the meantime I'm sure the press will come out with lots of insights.I'm not categorically saying we will appoint Garde, how can anyone, but I believe we will regardless of what the press are saying. Ponky
Regardless, its's till more than 10%.As you say, if it only mattered that much, why would clubs bother paying managers? And given that we've only lost one game by more than one this season that 10% could be all the difference we need. That said though, I think Arry's 10% is working on the given assumption that the manager is selecting his teams and tactics in a sane and consistent manner.
