If there is a positive, its that the first half the link up play between Gil and Grealish was fantastic. We finally have some proper footballers, and at times they looked a different class to everything else on the pitch, exemplified by their goals. But both tired in the second half.

If we can get these 2 playing with Traore, we will certainly score plenty of goals from midfield. Which is useful, because I don't see out strikers scoring many.

But you've got to have a balance.  A team with Gil, Grealish and Traore in midfield would probably get completely overrun.

You're all completely missing the main point. If you want to bathe in negativity go for it. Don't complain about it when Sherwood's sacked in Jan and we stay up by the skin of our teeth.

I'm still not 100% sure what it is you're specifically angry with?

The fans at the ground going quiet? They could see our shape had gone and we were in trouble - no amount of effort from the players on the pitch or the fans in the stand could change that. The quiet was the realisation that it was going to happen and the sadness of being unable to stop it.

This thread? Criticism of the manager? In my opinion, it's deserved - there's always going to be some anger when we've lost 3-2 from 2-0 up - and people don't always put things in a measured and reasonable way at that point, you've got to expect that; it's an emotional game - but some criticism is very much merited - Leicester didn't suddenly become good, the players on the pitch didn't suddenly become bad - we made bad changes and lost the game because of them. Is that the managers fault? Yes. is it negative to say so? No, not in my opinion.

Having said that, I still have no real idea what it is you mean - what's is it you're most upset about?

Just absolutely fed up to bits of this exact attitude. "The quiet was the realisation that it was going to happen and the sadness of being unable to stop it."

Anyone with a grain of sense could see that we needed to strengthen the midfield and after going 2-0 up we should have taken off Gabby and Grealish and moved Sinclair up and put on Veretout and Clark.

I know Sherwood is still wet behind the ears at this management lark but for Christs sake what the hell is Wilkins doing to earn his money?

That's not an attitude though, that's a reaction. The attitude is positive, it's dented by the things that are happening.

We played with 2 midfielders after Gill went off , other than that we played well, defense looked solid and some of the forward play was very good, in the first half.

Not sure what happened and why Ayew was brought on like that when we was two up, two down yes , but two up......strange.

I hope Sherwood can explain why , maybe he will put his hands up or maybe Veretout is injured or ill

Lets face it we could have have written the script for this game. Typical Villa falling to defend a lead.

Taking off Gil for Ayew was suicidal IMO and then compound it further by putting on that one trick pony Gestade for Gabby. I don't rate Gabby at all but at least he threatens with his runs rather than lumbering around aimlessly heading the ball to the opposition. Veretout should have come on to strengthen our midfield and keep the ball, for the last 20 minutes we were completely over run in midfield. TS's tactical naivety really worries, I thought that was where Wilkins was supposed to add value.

Oh and another cataclysmic cock up by Guzan to finish it off.

Christ alive. This thread is an absolute cesspit. Look at yourselves!

That was hopelessly predictable and Sherwood made some stupid decisions. If hope any of the people saying "Sherwood out" though never turn up to Villa Park ever again. Just don't come.

Everything associated with this club seems to be negative but do you know the most negative aspect of all? The fans. At 1-2 it was so f**king predictable we were going to lose largely due to tactical decisions, but Villa fans went completely silent and this thread was in meltdown already.

We have a losing mentality at this club and until it changes, we will never improve. I cannot fathom the amount of negativity I have seen on here despite us being in the lead. It rubs off on the players, they know that as soon as they are under it a bit, they're getting f**k all support from the fans.

We've had five managers since O'Neill. All failed. What is the constant? Negative fans and a board with no experience in football. Recipe for disaster.

Thats bollox mate.

Today we lost the game because at 2-0 we took off the right man (Gil was knackered), and brought on the wrong man - Ayew.

It should have been Clark, Veretout or Richardson and we should have suffocated the midfield and stopped the supply to Mahrez.

Did I say anything different? The in game aspect of the fans is tiny, but the reaction is ridiculous.

The players won't be reading this so the reaction of the fans has no influence on the game whatsoever!!  Anyway, back on topic, we were so shit in that second half.....

Ah yeah cos they'll be completely unaffected by the crowd grumbling at misplaced passes after half an hour next time we go 0-1 down at home. It's a mentality thing. Compare it to Dortmund/Palace/whoever

Did that happen against Sunderland, Notts County or even Arsenal in the final?  Didn't Tim say the other day how the crowd was great after we went behind or am I imagining it?  Look, I agree that the fans at VP (especially in the sides) could do more to support and back the team vocally and we should, but I really don't think the players in this team have received much negativity from fans - quite the opposite. By next Saturday people will be more reflective and will completely back the team again - everyone is naturally pissed off atm and I don't think hurts anyone to vent a bit.

I left after the second was in. So obvious what was going to happen. Unfortunately had the pleasure of being sat right next to the Leicester fans. Right decision made.

The last 3 games I've been to : humiliated at wembley in the cup final, sent to sleep at home against united and thrown away a 2 goal lead away at Leicester.

There's no enjoyment anymore. Just awful week after week for 5 years.

Fair play to to all those who will be back again on Saturday against the baggies. Think I'll  give it a miss as this afternoon has got underneath my skin.

The attitude and reaction aren't necessarily separate things. It doesn't help, if people don't agree whatever, but in my opinion it's just the general attitude of a lot of the fans that is a major factor in our stagnation. Today a prime example.

Sherwood got it right after the FA Cup final, we're a team of losers. It's got very little to do with individuals, performances, errors or ability. We're a club of losers with a losing mentality and we all know it. It includes us fans, at 2 0 up I still had a feeling we'd lose and I know I'm no where near alone.

I don't know how it's fixed, sports phycologists, hypnosis, brain transplants or whatever, but it needs sorting.

Notts County I wasn't there but it was a cup match that no-one really cares about. Sunderland we were playing well! Sometimes supporting the side when their down though helps create that too. Definitely happened against Arsenal. Half-time was a morgue. FA Cup final, 1-0 down, everyone crying. Someone punched me because he was saying Grealish was absolutely useless and I said he was a teenager and is playing against World Cup winners.

That's just crap.  A match that no-one really cares about, really?  I was there when we went 1-0 down at Sunderland and the support was good and positive.  In the FA cup final I went to the fans were amazing and very vocal even when all was lost.  I am sorry someone punched you!

Not seen the game but in Tim's interview I gather it was the usual moronic keep handing the ball to the opposition even though we are in the lead, rather than making them work hard to win it back, even if that means playing sideways and backwards. Haven't had players or a team that can adjust tactics during a match for years. Love Gabby but he has to be dropped.

Just so so typical Villa this game was, lift you up, fill you with hope and then ruin everything just when you thought it was ok.

Sadly the losing mentality appears to have spread from the old squad to the new one quite smoothly.

The only reason teams like Leicester & Palace are off to such flyers this season is largely coz they have taken 3 points from us and for me both will finish low mid table,,, i fear we will be lower than both however which is not good! I thought Leicester were just huffers and puffers which once 2-0 ahead we should have had enough to snuff them out.. we instead were abysmal.
