Earl the Pearl
I think adebayor is a red herring We do tend to do our business quietly, so all of the Adebayor links actually make me think that it's less and less likely.

VillanousOne
after me moaning about repeat links here's another, nothing we've not heard before but lets hope there is some truth in it: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11714915/Aston-Villa-transfer-news-Sherwood-interested-in-Dennis-Praet-and-closing-in-on-Idrissa-Gueye.html Tim Sherwood has launched a £7million bid for Anderlecht’s Belgium international Dennis Praet and is close to signing Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye. Sherwood is considering an offer for Praet after this week making an inquiry for the highly-regarded attacking midfielder, as he steps up his search for summer signings at Aston Villa. Praet is expected to leave Anderlecht for a fee of around 10million euros and is also attracting interest from Southampton and Everton. The 21-year-old has already been capped by the Belgium senior team and would offer sorely needed creativity to Villa’s midfield. He was once compared to Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta by a team-mate at Anderlecht and is now signed up to Stellar Group, who also have Gareth Bale and Joe Hart as leading clients. VillaChris
Whp is Darder and where does he play? Apparently scored v us for Malaga in a friendly at VP a few years back. Wasn't there some other Malaga player people were going mental about on here after that game? Seems he's a CM and not a particularly attacking one so don't really see where the space is. The next midfield sigining should be a proper playmaker imo. .

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is ready to swoop for Valencia's Portugal right-back Miguel Monteiro in a surprise £5million raid. O'Neill has been looking to solve his problem position and has found it in the player who's Jose Bosingwa's understudy in the national side. Miguel, 29, joined Valencia from Benfica four years ago and has played a key part in their success. Spurs had also been looking at Miguel, but Harry Redknapp has been beaten to the signature according to sources in Spain. O'Neill has been under pressure to make signings after a disappointing end to last season and Miguel will take some of the heat off - with the deal set to be announced shortly. Miguel played once in Euro 2008, but was a regular four years before and has won 50 caps in all. Villa will offer him a three-year deal and O'Neill plans more signings with the money from Gareth Barry's sale plus other funds. also linked with this guy http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/valencia-right-back-miguel-monteiro-aston-733874
