Relegation v4.0

It is true that all of the other teams below us manage to look even worse than us, which is remarkable when you consider how pants we are. Burnley, QPR, Leicester and Hull were all garbage yesterday. Boggies were poor but will finish above us anyway. Think we only really have a chance of finishing above those first four.

Well, less than 12 hours between posting and having to eat those words.

If we don't get convincing wins against Leicester an Hull, we are gone. It'll be nasty at VP against Leicester if we lose to Hull.

Leicester is a cup game so that doesn't really matter. Probably beat we do lose that one so we can play less games and not have to put up with anymore crap

Not panicking just yet, arsenal were bang on form today whoever they came up against and sinclair and gil will make a difference against the likes of hull.

Not really. Most goals were scored on the counter because Lambert's tactics of sitting high up the pitch never changed. We made it much to easy for them.

That opinion was based on arsenal winning previous three including a 0-2 over city - we were shite but arsenal would have been favourites against any team outside the top 6 today. Also Gil and Sinclair are yet to play in league games against teams near us. So, till we get to hull and stoke and see what the new lads can bring I aint panicking.

Hull beat us we're in the bottom three most likely.

This season has echoes of 12/13 the worry is that our equivilant bad run is happening a month later than then.

Luckily we recovered that season in the nick of time but it was very close, we only secured safety the Wednesday before the last game.

The other two seasons we've had 30 + points by March so just about had enough of a buffer, no chance that happening this year.

It's going to be very close, look at the final day fixtures which are Leicester v QPR and Villa Burnley. If the title is wrapped up Sky will be all over that as Survival Sunday play off games.

For me we have to beat burnley, qpr, swansea, stoke all at villa park if we fail to win 3 of them were down infact i think hoidini would struggle to get out of this. Lambert is accountable with the players we have have this form is not acceptable.

I'm not worried about a loss to Arsenal, there is some inevitability in that. What is absolutely pathetic though is scoring 11 league goals in 6 months, 9 less than the Baggies who are the second worst scorers of the 92 teams. It's a shocking, shocking time for this football club and the under performing players and clueless manager are getting a free pass. It stems from the top. No ambition, no accountability and no sign of any change. Maybe relegation will wake us up, it also seems inevitable

To be exact it's 11 league goals in nine months, come Tuesday, as we didn't score in the last 2 games of last season either

Let's stop talking about whether or not we will be relegated and instead what our plan will be once we are relegated.

We are going to lose a squad that would probably take a good 50m to build up again. How much can we reasonably expect to get for Benteke, Delph, Sanchez, Okore, and Gil? Is Gabby good enough for the Championship? Would Weimann stick with us through the drop? What about our other defenders?

I think our only hope is going to be to come straight back up, but once we do come back up if we want to stay up well need at least 50-60m in investments. I don't think the youth talent strategy is gonna work so well for a team coming straight back up from the championship.

So true! After about a minute, when Walcott burst through, Niall Quinn commented how Walcott won't be disheartened (or something similar) because of Villa playing such a high line. Arsenal must have thought it was Christmas.
