Popular Post bobzy
He wont get the fans back on his side setting up like this at home. Obviously waiting for Benteke to return. I don't think we will full on attack untill then. For me might be to late for Lambert. Keane looks like he is waiting for the job!! We didn't lose at home... LAMBERT OUT!! **** pathetic. No shots on target at home???? Not a bad game but fans pay to see better than this The players not finishing doesn't = Lambert's fault. The two strikers he's signed getting long term injures doesn't = Lambert's fault. We're 4 points better off from these two games than we were last season (lost at Stoke, lost at home to Newcastle) and have kept 2 clean sheets. You don't the like the guy and you'll berate him at every single opportunity. It's pathetic and **** tiring. DCJonah
Good result and we look solid. Goals will be an issue for us. We didn't just hoof it as well. Winning me back Lambert, keep it up please.
StefanAVFC
I'm scared to use the p word in case people get the graphs out but defensively we look so much better. We can build on this.
samjp26
Until we get our strikers back we'll simply have to be solid and hope that the clowns we have up front until then manage to get some lucky breaks.
Villarocker
Only fault was the subs. Would've had Richardson off and N'Zogbia, for Grealish and Bent.

mikeyp102
Whilst not too unhappy with the result, I thought Newcastle were there for taking and Lamberts tactics were negative. Once he brought on Sanchez it was obvious we were playing for the draw. Yes Bent came on, but we all know he is a poacher taking off our wingers (however, ineffective they had been) meant that Bent was never going to get a sniff. Have to say despite the odd lapse we did look stronger at the back with Senderos so far looking an inspired signing!
bobzy
Newcastle looked good against Man City and Cabella looks a signing. I honestly think this was a good result rather than them being "there for the taking".
dudevillaisnice
Look very solid. Defence and Midfield look good. Upfront a concern but with Benteke and Kozak hopefully not too far away that should be ok. I'm happy with it. Can't fault the tactics too much to be honest. Raymond
My biggest issue was taking off Richardson instead of Weimann. Made the changes early for once, and we looked solid-ish at the back. Need to calm down in possession some, and stop trying to immediately break after we gain possession. If it is there, sure, but stop trying to force the counter attack. Sometimes a good spell of possession is worth more than one half chance on the break.
NeilS
I agree with that Samjp. We don't look like scoring many with the current strikers. I guess we have got to hope that we snatch the odd win here and there until Benteke and Kozak come back. Ideally we should be looking for another forward to replace one of the current two. But with finances short we will probably have to make do with what we have for now.

samjp26
There was talk of Welbeck, personally I think he'd be much better playing off Benteke than Weimann or Gabby.
Phumfeinz
Newcastle were growing in confidence and pushing us back more and more. I can fully understand why he brought Sanchez on.

They were getting on top and it was a smart sub. We were also about to go for it, grealish was ready to come on but an injury forced another defensive sub. PieFacE Posted August 23, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted August 23, 2014 Richardson was finding space down the left and putting crosses in but Gabby was no where. Should have replaced Gabby with Bent. That's the only criticism I have of Lambert today really. Need benteke back!
