AVTuco Posted September 20, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 20, 2014 A virus affecting a few players is no excuse for professional players to concede three goals in just over 3 minutes. Oh I agree. I think the 3 goals in 3 minutes is a disgrace. But I do think us not bothering to get back in the game is due to the current players on the pitch right now not being fully healthy. Damage limitation imo. Called it at HT, better to lose by the three than get torn to bits on the break and destroy the players confidence on the tiny chance we achieve a come back. Yes, especially if our guys are feeling ill.
StefanAVFC
A virus affecting a few players is no excuse for professional players to concede three goals in just over 3 minutes. Are you expected to be perfect at your job when you're ill?The 'ill' ones aren't playing though are they!Do you honestly think a contagious sickness won't be effecting any of the players out there? The most seriously ill might not be playing but I'm sure there are plenty on the pitch who are well below 100% I think you are just trying to find excuses. If Lambert put out players that are affected by a virus then that is disgusting. So youd rather him put out a youth team if the whole camp was affected? Seemingly you're finding excuses TO have a go.
The_Steve
Common sense to close out the match when the squad is down with a virus. Aren't going to chase a game when the legs aren't in it. Arsenal are very lucky that Chambers is still on the pitch.

The 'ill' ones aren't playing though are they! Because clearly they're the only ones who would be affected a virus in a close quarters training camp. Would that hold up in court? It's simply your opinion that anyone else is suffering with it so I have no idea as to why your acting as it is an irrefutable fact.

donnie
Love how everyone on here is blaming the virus ffs. Bent would never have played, baker is utter shit despite one good game last week and clark really is on the same level of shitness as baker. Westwood was a blow but sanchez as our £5 million pound signing should be expected to effectively step into his position. Total shambles today. 4 good games this year, FOUR!! So we ignore the last 2 years of utter shite we have had to endure and reward the clown with a new contract.
villianusa
Villa sitting back on a 3-0 defeat. Going goals down against a side like Arsenal means it's virtually impossible for us to come back, to win these games we have to take the lead. When the emphasise comes on us to attack a team that is so comfortable and with so much quality controlling possession, we just simply don't have anywhere near the quality to break it down. The game was simply over at 2-0. It is if have no belief in your abilities. We were doing fine until they scored. Gabby has run his legs off an the tactics have given him no support. We have retreated after the goals and never looked like scoring. Very poor tactics since conceding.

StefanAVFC
4 ganes out of 5 though. I find it pathetic that the usual suspects are out of the woodwork (after disappearing)(sorry donnie) after one lacklustre performance against title challengers

Funny how our virus infected team wasn't used as an excuse for not winning when it was 0-0 and yet now we are losing 3-0 all the qualified medics come out and are totally convinced that everyone has a virus even though they have no evidence to underpin that claim. Dodgyknees
At the end of the day the virus has obviously affected a lot of the players, whether this is a small percentage or enough to stop them playing, it has certainly made them look tired.
