  1. Surely they’ll have to complete the case as soon as possible if it’s to affect this season? Otherwise there could be a scenario where Everton have mathematically survived, only to have points deducted and then not enough time to win enough more to survive again. They absolutely should be punished this season, I just don’t see how it can’t be affected immediately? 6 points is the going rate in the EFL, sometimes accompanied with a transfer ban. Both seem appropriate here, but at least do it now so everyone (Everton and their rivals) is aware of what’s required in order to survive as soon as possible.
  2. About time I showed my ugly mug in here. This is me a couple of weeks ago, looking absolutely knackered with my newborn Matteo. Hopefully Guendouzi doesn’t ruin his name!
  3. “It’s happening”/“Shame it’s not a more reputable source”.
  4. I’m pretty sure that the only signings in the current financial year are Olsen, Dendoncker, Moreno and Duran, which is about £40m (plus a couple of relatively small loan fees for Augustinsson and Bednarek). I think Diego Carlos and Coutinho counted towards FY22, as both were announced in May if I recall correctly, and tally up with what’s been recorded. Offsetting the sales this financial year, £15m for Chukwuemeka, £12m for Targett and Ings, £3m for Trezeguet and El-Ghazi, and we’re about broken even in terms of net spend for the year. Net spend is obviously different to FFP, but this goes to show how much better they’re going to look for FY23. Whether we decide to do what we did last year and get some signings in early to include in this years figures, I’m not sure. Rest assured though, there is significant FFP headroom for a major window this summer.
  5. He’s reporting a quote from Emery.
  6. Saw his work in progress of this show a year or so ago. Absolutely loved it. He could read out a phone book and I'd be in hysterics, mind.
  7. Seems like Inter and Milan are going their separate ways, and both building new stadiums, rather than rebuilding San Siro together. Milan are moving just a couple of miles away from San Siro, still pretty much within the city. Whereas Inter are apparently building a stadium in a town on the outskirts called Assago on the south west side of the city, about eight miles away from San Siro. Can't imagine it's going to go down too well with Inter fans, as the plan Milan have got looks and sounds far better.

    Louie Barry

Man of the match according to WhoScored (8.1) and Sofascore (8.0). Lovely stuff.

Just won a penalty for Salford, which was converted. Played Louie!
  10. Somehow didn’t make the ludicrous XI, despite being the best keeper.
  11. I expect four new signings in to next seasons first choice XI. Right back, two midfielders and a support striker/winger. Based on rumours of who we’ve been linked with, I wouldn’t be surprised to see us line up like this next season (not seen any tangible links to defenders, so left that blank): ———————Martinez——————— RB ——Carlos——Mings——Moreno Guendouzi—Kamara—Doug—Pote ————Williams——Watkins———— And when with the ball: ———————Martinez——————— ——RB———Carlos———Mings—— —————Kamara—Doug————— ————Guendouzi——Pote———— Williams——————————Moreno ———————Watkins——————— Who says no?
  12. Just won a penalty for Rovers, which was dispatched by Sinclair. Lovely stuff.
  13. Watched Otavio on Wednesday against Inter. He was a deplorable cheating word removed, and got sent off. Sign him up.
  14. Also had a sly did at FFP and Man City. Good lad.
  15. Spoke to a Boro fan about where he’ll fit in, and it’s most likely that he’ll compete with McGree on the left, however this role plays more like a 10 than a traditional winger. Hoping this works out both our boys there! They’ve been given the number 10 and 11 shirts, so no pressure lads!
  16. Why is it a dumb rule? You only want it to apply for English players? How bizarre.
  17. Should also be noted that Dembele would be homegrown, due to his time at Fulham, another plus point to signing him.
  18. Probably there to look at N Williams after trying to sign him.
  19. No chance Dumfries leaves Inter for a team not in the Champions League. He’s also not the sort of right back that Emery would want, he’s defensively frail.
  20. Can those who think it's a poor signing explain why? I'm genuinely confused. Vast majority of us haven't seen much of him, so all we can really go by is Fbref and WhoScored. At his time at Lyon, in Ligue 1, he's had an xG of 56.2, and scored 55. That doesn't seem too bad? Ings' xG for us was 12.9 and he scored 13, so we're not talking about a huge difference. Ings has only scored more than 12 goals in a top flight once in his career, and is 31 in the summer, where as Dembele has managed it three times, and is 27 in the summer. Dembele's average rating for Lyon in Ligue 1 over the five seasons is 6.89 for all appearances, and 7.09 for just those games he started in. By contrast, Ings' average rating for us is 6.61 in the Premier League in all appearances, and 6.82 in just starts. Sure, Dembele was playing for a better team in a worse league, but those two variables aren't big enough to explain such a big discrepancy? It also matches the eye test, when Ings didn't score or contribute, quite a few times it was as if we were playing with a man down. I really don't get the apathy, or even disappointment of this transfer? Of course it could happen, and it doesn't work out, but if that's the case it'll be a far cheaper mistake than Ings' move, or even Wesley, heaven forbid. I'm 100% on board with this potential move, I think he's just what we need as a different option up front, and think he'll be a far better player up top than Watkins is.
  21. Inter - my wife’s team. Been over to San Siro quite a few times. Watch all of their matches. Managed to see them in the Champions League against Barcelona which was quite something for a Villa fan in his early 30s. Cambridge United - my local team, and got loads of close friends who support them.
  22. Make it happen. He’s also homegrown as he was at Fulham when he was 16-20.
