He literally ran at the defence from deep at the weekend and got an assist.

Finding this thread bizarre to read today. Thought he was excellent yesterday, and probably his best performance for 18 months. Two brilliant assists, he held the ball up well, won lots of headers. Again, like McGinn, not been his biggest fan recently, but delighted with his performance. Was actually my man of the match.

Not been his biggest fan recently, but he was very good yesterday. Gave the ball away a couple of times in the first 20 or so, but after that he was very good. More of the same please John.

Regardless of who the manager is or might be, we 100% need more quality in midfield. I can’t believe we’re going in to another season with an inadequate midfield. Yes the tactics don’t help, but only Kamara (and it’s early days) can be considered good enough for the top 7 of our midfield. It’s arguably the most important area of the field (certainly in my mind), and we’re ill equipped once again! Without a new addition there, we won’t get top 8, regardless of who the manager is.

I bought the Australia package for £28 or whatever, which included VillaTV. I can subscribe to VillaTV, so I assume they haven’t switched it on for anyone who bought this package. Proper amateur. And if I’d known at the start of the game, I’d have resubscribed and demanded a refund, but no point this far in to the game.

Absolutely, but this is to a team chasing promotion, it’s a massive step up!

I’m anxious about this one. He’s a great talent, but I fear it may be a step up too soon. If he gets regular minutes then it’s perfect, but with a lot of pressure in promotion for them, he might not get as many minutes.

With 18 months left on his deal, he might be willing to accept a lower wage over a longer period, so say £90k per week for 3.5 years, for example.

He’ll be halfway through his contract in January, meaning we’ll be able to accept about £12.5m offers for him and break even for FFP. I wouldn’t be surprised if this happened, and we signed a new first team striker in that window. £12.5m is a much more palatable purchase price for a club, and there’s bound to be a club who would take that risk. I still think he’s our best striker, and would like to see him get at least 3-4 starts at the beginning of the season with at least two of Buendia, Bailey and Coutinho behind him. He’s been disappointing on the whole, but would like to see him at least have a chance to be our main guy, and then reassess in January.

I watched the Cambridge MK Dons match (I’m a local), Barry did okay when he came on. Was probably their brightest attacking threat whilst he was on the pitch. Pretty confident he’ll get regular starts for them.

Losing six fixtures is not ideal. Hopefully there’s friendlies added to make up for lost match time. I guess the good news is that we can’t get relegated!
