I was being a bit facetious, I admit. However I’d have no qualms of him being a squad player next season, unless of course we can book an FFP profit on him, then it’s best for all parties to part ways. I am glad he’s doing well though, but it’s also a warning about future signings, that just because they look objectively great on stat sites, that they might not be quite what they seem.

With regards to Dybala, Italians always state wages after tax, so you can pretty much double what you’ve read to show his gross wage.

If we had the choice of Lo Celso or Guendouzi, I'm backing the former. Guendouzi's form falling off a cliff is a massive negative for me, I don't understand why people are selling it as a benefit for us. Not the sort of mentality I want from a player, and kind of backs up what happened at Arsenal by the sounds of it. Not saying I'd be disappointed if we signed him, but out of the two I'd prefer Lo Celso.

I’m also an Inter fan (through my mrs). Dumfries wouldn’t come to the Villa, and is also really not what we need. He’s a liability defensively, and wouldn’t suit the way Emery wants to play with the right back being more conservative. He’s got Man Utd and Ten Hag written all over him. Looking back at the promo video that we released. Looks below as if the Trinity and the Holte is connected far more than it is now: So maybe a few seats there? There's also a different roof on the Holte End in this video, so there might be bigger changes in the Holte in phase 2 than we originally thought, which would bring about those additional 2k or so extra? Or am I reading too much in to a promo video...?

I wonder what they’re going to do about their stadium renovation. It was due to start this summer and be ready in a year (which sounds like it would be delayed by at least a year anyway). Surely if they go down they won’t do it, however they might abandon it even if they stay up, until they’re more secure on the field.

I’ll be disappointed if we signed Phillips or Ward-Prowse this summer. I back Emery and team to go out and get someone truly top tier from Spain or France. People mentioning the likes of Walker-Peters, Billing. Sorry to disappoint you, but these aren’t the calibre of players we’ll be aiming for now.

Regarding Johnson, I had a look on FBref and WhoScored, and I’m doubling down on my stance about him being bang average: And has a 6.54 rating in the league this season. We can, and will attract far better.

I really don't get the fascination with Johnson, he's bang average. Scored a few goals, and now people rate him highly. Don't see it.

Birmingham City won the League Cup and got relegated in 2011, so they did. Wigan won the FA Cup in 2013 and got relegated. Millwall were runners up in the FA Cup in 2004 whilst being in the second tier, and not getting promoted (Stefan Moore was on loan to them in their European campaign, although they got knocked out by Ferencvaros in the first round). Middlesbrough got beaten in both cup finals in 1997, and got relegated. Ipswich qualified for Europe in 2001/02 through fair play, despite being relegated. Crystal Palace went in to the Intertoto Cup despite being relegated in 1998, as they were the only English team to apply for the competition. Portsmouth lost the 2010 FA Cup Final and got relegated the same year. They're all of the examples I can find, or remember. It should also be noted that they stopped allowing the runners up of the FA Cup to qualify for Europe in 2015. Any guesses who were runners up that season?

He scored in the last game of the season at home to Chelsea, in front of 10k. His first for is in a full stadium though.
