  1. He's just trying to one-up Pogba imo. Show that he isn't in awe of him and will stop him playing. Unfortunately for Dougie, Pogba knows that. So knows if he gets one-on-one in the box, Luis will get to tight and nibble at the ball...all he has to do is ensure contact. Its a silly tackle to try and make, especially when you know Pogba will always make sure it ends in a pen the way Jack always makes sure he gets a free kick.
  2. Ollie hasn't initiated/created contact like Kane does. He hasn't faked contact like Leeds players. He's running full tilt at the keeper who has come out feet first. Ollie gets a touch last and knows he's getting hit. The contact is a lot lighter than expected, which makes it look questionable for some. For me though, its a pen...and even if not, is not a dive. He hasn't "simulated" anything. At all.
  3. Harsh to blame Emi. On Greenwood's left foot, that shot could be curling into the top left just as likely as the bottom right...he has to consider both options. Its a good strike, taken early, that I think would be hard to stop for any keeper.
  4. Can't argue with their penalty. Definite pen. What is frustrating is that Pogba knows it is coming when he is on the floor and does nothing apart from ensuring contact...then Luis obliges. Never a dive in Ollie's case. He's kicked. In a day and age when all that is needed by VAR to confirm a pen is slight contact then that's BS. Greenwoods handball is handball. His arm is up in the air ffs. Also, just after getting a yellow for pulling Watkins back, Maguire pulls his shoulder again, kicks him, then pushes him over out of play. Ref waves play on. Just too much bias involved.
  5. Feeling confident every time we play Man U whilst they're on a shit streak. Seeing Carlton Cole boss Southampton in one of his first games and think he'd score a bucket load. Reo-Coker would be a great signing. Thinking Gary Cahill would become a Villa legend. 'Knowing' that we would beat Bradford over two-legs in the semi-final.

The ball in for Watkins thighed chance was incredible.
  7. Not sure about your first comment. Naka, Trez, El Ghazi, Engels, Samatta were all under £10mil, I think that is basement type stuff nowadays. That's what we've got to stay away from...and I think we will as we don't need numbers, just quality. Luiz, Konsa, Cash, Martinez, Targett are the £10-£20 bracket and I think have done quite well. Troare and Sanson fall in there as well but Troare has had a decent enough contribution for his first season and Sanson is still early into it. I'm with you on the second bit though. Sign a few players in key position for a decent fee. Home based players seem more effective...but may have £20m added on top so abroad may be more economical.
  8. Love him, but a big part of the reason we turn the ball over so much. When he grabs his pitching wedge and chips a ball blindly into the middle of the pitch, often to an opposition player, I am sad. He does this far too often.
  9. Looked more determined when first on. Jinked past a player, drove forward....then caned a long ball to their defender instead of passing simply to a Villa player out wide. Did that a few times, then went through 5/10mins of almost looking like he was asserting himself through midfield, then gave up doing that and saw out the final part of the match doing very little
  10. This is a strange one. As I see it, he's pretty solid when controlling the ball, plays forward well and relatively often, and is not good at blocking shots as seen v Liverpool for their last goal and a Man C chance yesterday that he casually dangled at.
  11. Ramsey and Kesler looked to be the best in the group in that game for me. Seemed to dictate more than others and take control. Barry and Chukumweka clearly very talented players at that age whilst Raiky was a good watch as well.
  12. Nothing worse than when an attacker is pressuring a full back running towards his own corner flag who then just flops. Linemen always buy it. Apart from when Konsa does it. That's ok

Another big bonus of his front foot style has been Targett's improvement in that area too by following his example. Targett was interviewed earlier in the season and says it's something he's tried to replicate....and he looks a lot better for it!
  14. Turns the ball over too much. There was a half time stat comparing him to Harrison Read. Something like: McGinn attempted 8 passes, 60% success. So doesn't try a lot of passes, but quite often gives it away when he does.
  15. Mings whacking it forward constantly and wingers who give the ball away loads means he is just not in matches anymore. Davis up with him holding the ball up looked like it could give him a boost again.
  16. Just not up to speed with the pace of play. With Barkley firing, Sanson has chance to bed in at build up slowly. Barkley being a bag of shit means he's seeing more starts than intended IMO. Still time for him to improve and contribute.
  17. Spent the ten minutes before he scored calling him a word removed. Will probably do the same next match. The guy knows how to arrive at the far post and bury though!
  18. I love the 'buzz' he brings. Bit like Mount. Popping the ball around, moving it forward, one-twos, dribble every now and then, mobile. I think he'll be a hit.

    Keinan Davis

Grealish does the job of three players. A hold up man, direct winger, and ball player. We don't have anyone who fills just one if those types of player unless its Davis. Really noticeable how much better we looked when the ball stuck up top for longer. And those sexy feet at the end!
  20. I really like Pulisic. Although we'll never get him a player in that style/skill-set would be a perfect fit for what we need. We need to find the pre-Dortmund version with some good scouting somewhere.
  21. As much as Dean is a weapons grade rocket polisher, I do like the way he has no time for the squealers and rollers. Just ignores them. Unless it's Kane in the penalty box, cheating. Then he'll buy that every time.
  22. Hojlberg rugby tackling Targett after he snuck past him on the edge of the box was bemusing. Two villa players booked for something similar afterwards on the halfway line.

    Keinan Davis

Watkins was poor and got dominated by Lascelles. I would have tried Davis up top and moved Watkins out wide instead of Trez (assuming a 442 was a no go)
  24. So how do we say this? Fill-oh-jean bid-ace (as in playing card)? Or a bit of Italian flair and go with fill-oh-jean bid-atch-ay?
  25. Willock actually pulled him down by his shirt. Dont think that's would ever get given. I felt last year we weren't good enough at stopping teams run through us. A yellow on the half way line is frustrating, but better than breaking through onto our defence.
