    New manager

He didn't though - it was much more complicated than that. Ultimately nobody knows the full truth of the matter but the generally accepted Warburton left Brentford because he wasn't able to have the control he wanted in all aspects of the club. Player recruitment was part of that but only a small part.
  2. Hasn't she left him though? I'm sure I heard a rumour they'd split because he didn't like her lesbionics.

Would he want to leave Rangers? Part of me wonders if anyone of sound mind would come here! Rangers is a big job, but it's still lower league football. I think he'd come. Warbuton! Its punts on lower league foder that has got us where we are. Managing in the league Rangers is in now is like managing in the conference Really? Who have we taken from a lower league club (other than the ginger one)? I think Warburton would be a very effective premier league manager and expect him to demonstrate this in the next couple of years. What he did at Brentford was nothing short of miraculous and he appears to have had exactly the same impact at Rangers. His training is meticulous and his players run through brick walls for him. He was a little bit one-dimensional tactically at Brentford but I think he learned from that and has become a better manager. He'd definitely get my vote.

You know, you might be on to something there. I've noticed that they are all men too, clearly men don't suit Villa so we shouldn't bring any new ones in. Come to think of it, they'd all have two legs too. Monoped's only from here on in.
  5. I meant to post about that yesterday but the Sherwood news kinda distracted me. Fantastic insight into that life. Elba was very good but outshone by some of the child actors.
  6. I think I've been in there about four times this season (possibly not true but it's a small number). Immediately regret it.
  7. So, I'm planning a February trip to see some friends in (near) Wellington, NZ. Hoping for about ten days with them and then four or five days seeing family in Melbourne on the way back. Any suggestions for things I should make time to see/do in either place? Ostensibly I'm there to see people rather than to do loads of sight-seeing but I'm hoping to find time to get out and about on my own for the odd day here or there. Any suggestions for either place would be welcome.
  8. Just saw my uncle Bill. Can't believe how much I'm spending on uncles.
  9. Seeing as there's been a few documentary recommendations in here recently, I thought I add 1971. Caught it on Netflix last week and it was fascinating. More here
  10. In what context is it not going too well? They've had a tough start to the season granted, but we're talking 11 games vs 4 years. Exactly. Perennial bottom-dwellers get a promotion to the Championship, then playoffs the next year, lose their Manager and a host of key players this last summer but if you looks closely at what's happening at Brentford and Midtjylland, it's nothing short of revolutionary. I don't think it will necessarily continue to keep showing such dividends but it's definitely been a positive thing and a lot of clubs are following the example (although none to quite the level that Benham is). Anyway, just because Villa have a few statistical analysts, doesn't mean we're doing Moneyball.
  11. Kitson is simply awesome. I used to be really into comedy but he's about the only person currently that I'd go out of my way to see.
  12. Mad Men marathon complete. Final season (both parts) done in the last few days. So glad it ended well (and by well, I mean the writing rather than any spoilers in regard to the conclusions for the characters). I gave up around season 3 or 4 and left it alone for a long time but I'm glad I went back to finish it now.
  13. Legalising marijuna? Thats going to have a negative impact on their country I think your going to have a lot of problems with people coming to the country with that. support the others one though. No suprise Canada is such a great place to live It's pretty much legal anyway over there (in my experience). Obviously not if you're growing/supplying but they are relatively relaxed about personal use.
  14. I know he's only recently gone to Glasgow but I'd have a look at Warburton. I saw a lot of him at Brentford and although there was a small amount of talk about him before Sherwood took over, I didn't think he was ready then. Having seen what he's been doing north of the border in the last few months though, I'm starting to think he's the real deal.
  15. It's a very good concept. But the problem in football is that you can't base the game purely on statistics, so use of the concept has had very limited success. FC Midtjylland says hi!
  16. Disappointed by the noises coming out of the Scotland camp in the last few days. It would seem that the target was to reach the quarters and that's good enough for them now. No talk about winning the match tomorrow, just talk of hoping to be able to compete. I know they're the underdogs by some way but the attitude does seem very defeatist. In other news, Italy have just become my favourite team of the tournament. Only because they were at the London Scottish game last night, having their end of tour night out. The whole squad and entourage were there, joined in supporting Scottish, they sang, they handed out drinks to those near them in the stands and were generally great fun to have around, even if half of them were blind drunk. The highlight though was at half time when the resident bagpiper started to play their national anthem. They stood as one and belted out the entire thing, much to the enjoyment of everyone there.

    Dogs...

I have got a Beagle, I got it from the Dog's home about 8 years ago. Initially the dog was a nightmare for a few weeks especially with the walk up's (Dog's just saying hello and that). It seemed that I was part of the problem as I tensed up thinking it was all going to go wrong. Once I started saying hello to the other dog and relaxed a bit all was OK. He now will allow puppies to lick his face and so on. Never had a problem since then. He is slightly over protective of my Granddaughter but that's is just how dog's are. (He is 15 years old now and had a check a month ago using ultra sound and as many checks as possible. He passed it all with flying colours.) Looks like your fish have escaped though.
  20. I've just started the final season of Mad Men. Trying to pace it so I'm just ready for the second part when it's released. I think I've taken about five years to get this far though. I lost interest for a bit but I think that was because I overdid it a bit. Its definitely nicely within my top five shows. Roger is a baller.
