  1. Apparently I have to pay for the privilege or wearing one to work on Monday. Apart from the fact that I don't own one and the fact that I'm in relatively high-level meetings with external lawyers and a potential supplier for most of the day, not wearing one means I'm a rocket polisher. I've offered to pay five times the required amount to not have to wear one and apparently that upgrades me to clearing in the woods. Guess it just shows it's nothing to do with raising money for charity, it's about conformity.
  2. Thanks for fixing up that youtube embed I just posted, Limpid. Would love to know what I did wrong as I tried to follow the instructions above.
  3. I used to love that song but I think I overplayed it.
  4. To be fair, it is cutlery I've asked for. (That's no less tragic, is it?) There are a few standard presents that are almost guaranteed from the parents to add to my haul. They will inevitably include a Cadbury selection pack, a Lee Evans dvd and a footballers biography. I believe my current spend on Christmas shopping is £900. I'm missing out somewhere, aren't I?
  5. I believe I'm in line for some cutlery. So excited. Until now, I could always rely on the gf for a half-decent gift but given she got the spanish archer earlier in the year, I doubt that's an option this Christmas.
  6. The only knowledge I have of Rush is that a bloke called Geddy Lee sang on "Take Off" with Bob and Doug McKenzie.
  7. Just so I'm clear what you're saying here....people of different faiths can't agree on stuff and this has sometimes led to wars and fighting and that. You disagree with their worldview so we should eradicate it. And that's with no irony?
  8. Regional tv generally sucks but back to back Desmond's every evening on London Live always cheers me up.
  9. I'm challenging my inner-scrooge by having a crack at some Christmas music:
  10. Life seems to have got in the way of my movie-watching this year. Feels like I've seen only a fraction of the number that I've seen in recent years. There's so much I've wanted to see but not go around to. Off the top of my head - and in no particular order: Ex Machina Amy Inside Out Slow West Montage of Heck Red Army Bests of No Nation Taxi Tehran Whiplash Selma
  11. I'm very familiar with Christian theology (having been surrounded by it for almost all of my life) and this bit is certainly not conventional Christian thinking. Much of the rest of it is not conventionally "Christian" either. Anyway, we'd better be careful, we've already got a religion thread. Back to the boxing
  12. His views are crackers, regardless of how consistent the are with the traveller community. What's worse though is the campaign against the journalist following the release of the original story. Apparently there's been threats of violence against Oliver Holt for having made the whole thing up. I believe that's why they released the transcript and video - to prove Fury said it all. Agree re the role model thing but the whole story (if true) stinks.
  13. Stunning load of guff from Fury in the Holt interview The whole batshit transcript here
  14. I wonder how yesterday's news has impacted on applicants for this job? Source (To be fair the article does cite the Daily Mirror as the source for the story so maybe a pinch of salt required).
  15. I drink so rarely these days. I can go weeks or even months without having a drink. I rarely have anything in the house (actually, that's not true - I have a full wine-rack and a few expensive spirits but nothing I would consider opening "just because"). Very occasionally, if I'm doing a big shop, I might pick up a few bottles of beer but they'll be gone within a couple of days. Can't remember the last time I did this though. I really don't go out drinking these days either. Nine times out of ten, I'd rather drive than have a drink. I'm at that point in life where all my friends are married with kids and nobody goes out for a session anyway. I'd say more months than not, my intake would be zero but every once in a while it'll be a few drinks here and there.
  16. Quick lads, CED's an ISIS sympathiser. Bomb him!
  17. Mexez, Ramirex, Messi, in that order for me. Such a great selection of goals though - really enjoyed watching that.
  18. Dave's case for the bombs here I've only skimmed it so far but the bit about what happens post-bombing does seem a little idealistic. At 40+ pages, I can't find a suitable summary paragraph so won't quote any of it but it's worth a read.

    2016 Holiday Plans

Australia and New Zealand in Feb. A week in a Chateau in Bordeaux in July. Possible Vancouver or Mozambique trip later in the year. Solomon Islands (and surrounding) some time around Christmas. After concluding an 8 year relationship earlier this year with someone whose idea of a holiday was reading a book, sitting in a cottage in West Wales for two weeks, I'm glad to get my travelling boots back on.
