  1. Er,yes. Because that worked so well the last time we got a recommendation from Fergie, right?
  2. As I'm more often at Griffin Park than Villa Park, I've been on the Warburton "train" for a long time. I'm pretty sure he would transform our fortunes. For a multitude of reason though, I don't hold out any hope of it happening.
  3. In honour of the passing of the second Ronnie yesterday, one of my favourite jokes of his: A man was marooned on a desert island. One day a beautiful woman arrives in a wet suit. 'When did you last have a smoke?' she asks. 'Five years ago.' So she gets out a cigar and he smokes it. She unzips her wet suit a bit and says, 'When did you last have a drink?' He said, 'Five years ago.' So she gets out a bottle of Scotch and he has a drink. Then she unzips her wet suit a bit more and says, 'And when was the last time you played around?' He looks at her in amazement and says: 'You're not telling me you've got a set of golf clubs in there?'
  4. I almost signed up with these years ago http://www.gvi.co.uk Looks like it costs a fortune though but there's some awesome things you can do.
  5. I admire that even after the last few years, you are still optimistic enough to think that there's a conceivable alternative to the usual cutting off our nose to spite our face that seems to be the MO at the club.
  6. I have no problem taking my shoes off if I arrive at someone's house where it's clearly what they do. By the same token, I won't take them off if it looks like they're not fussed. Where I do draw the line though is those mental families who all wear slippers and who have special guest slippers too. I know at least two families like that and I always decline any invitations there.
  7. Fair point but I don't see our board sanctioning those sort of wages unless success is guaranteed. The average Championship player earns about £320k a year. I can't see us paying someone £50-80k* per week and I don't think it would be wise to. *I have no source for those figures other than speculation on VT.
  8. I'm with you on that but if the wages bandied about re Adama are true, I'd have major reservations.
  9. Hope you've got a tin hat.
  10. From anyone else, much of that sounds like sense. From Stan, it all comes across as self-publicity.
  11. So I said to my producer......RIP Mr Corbett.
  12. Emmanuel Eboue getting his contract terminated from the looks of twitter. Banned by FIFA for a year for apparently not paying his agent.
  13. Having seen a fair bit of Warburton at close quarters, he'd be my choice. I've absolutely no doubt he would have a positive impact but I know I'm dreaming and it'll be one of the usual wrong men that get chosen.
  14. People in shops who pay by flinging their money on the counter, despite the cashier holding their hand out for the money. Oh, and people who spend ten minutes trying to find exactly the right change by going through two purses and two handbags. Obviously when I say "people", I mean the annoying bint ahead of me in the queue tonight. Made me miss my bus so I spent £15 on a cab home instead.
  15. In which case, I won't throw even so much as a glance at it
  16. Quite possibly in the wrong head when I posted this morning, let alone the wrong thread
  17. Ah, it's older news than I was initially led to believe. Thanks for the heads-up. As it's in the US, I'm sure they'll be able to use it as a reason to strengthen their anti-terror laws.
  18. Again, too early to tell if it's "terror" but reports of Capitol Hill/Whitehouse being on lock-down because of a shooting this morning.
  19. You're not alone. 6am flight yesterday - home at 10pm then spent two hours fixing up some disaster for the big boss. Back on it at 8am this morning and I'm still in the office now. Only jumped in here because I'm waiting for someone to get back to me on something but I bet they've probably gone home even when they said they wouldn't. Same again tomorrow, no doubt.
  20. If anyone makes a DRLUTWU banner, they will have my ultimate respect.
  21. Rodgers will be at Swansea next season. Swans fans I spoke to yesterday seemed to have a fair insight into what's going on in their club and they believe it's already a done deal.
  22. Finally home after going walkabout to get around motorway closure. Really not sure why we still bother with them serving up this dross. We did look OK at times but that's mostly because Swansea were incredibly poor. They looked better in the second half and I think Britton coming on game them a much better shape. Even when we had the ball, we never look threatening and the demeanour of the team is negative throughout. Even the shooting practice during the warm-up was a joke. About 2 went in out of about 50 attempts. Special mention to the Villa "fan" on the front row who spent 90 minutes trying to pick a fight with a Swansea fan who was there with his two young kids. Constantly in his face, goading and swearing at him throughout and then when the Swansea fan spoke to a steward about it, he was offered outside to sort out their differences. Total clearing in the woods who gave our club a bad name.
