  1. Garcia has now come and said that the report contains "numerous materially incomplete and erroneous representations of the facts and conclusions" Source: http://online.wsj.com/articles/qatar-russia-cleared-of-wrongdoing-in-world-cup-bids-1415873984
  2. Stats like that to me are irrelevant. Different eras, different times, different challenges. I think if you stuck a Champions League caliber manager in at the club under the current regime his loss ratio wouldn't look great either. Can you not see that the managers with the worst loss ratios are the ones that have worked under Lerner? Also you can see that the loss ratios incline in keeping with the decline of Lerner's interest. It also shows that the challenges that Aston Villa face in the current footballing era. It would also suggest that MON was our best ever premier league manager. I'd be shocked if that was the general consensus of Villa fans.
  3. That's true, but at least we'd still all be able to have a good old whinge about Ciaran Clark.
  4. When I saw you'd posted in this thread this morning I already knew what the post was going to say. Well actually I lie, I thought you were going to say you'd DHUTWU so to be honest I'm a little disappointed in you.
  5. Have to say MOTD was pretty shocking last night. Jenas managed to get 2 of the names of our players wrong about 30 seconds flat and then was followed by Lineker claiming that the point we earned yesterday kept us out of the relegation, when in reality in had absolutely no effect on our league position. Watching Neville and Jenas stumble their way through actually made me think of a second 'Hansen and Lawrenson weren't that bad really, were they?' which probably says a lot about the new wave of pundits.
  6. Soooo PS4 + COD:AW and TLOU download is £349.99 at Game, is it worth it? Trying to talk myself out of it as I don't really have the time to invest into it.
  7. I think it was Yodel that went to the effort of getting into my back garden and then put my parcel in a mop bucket that had been left outside. Top quality service I think you'd agree.
  8. Getting an extra hour in bed today. Perfect for watching the Football League Show on iPlayer with popcorn at the ready.
  9. Part of me suspects that Farage is probably quite happy about the furore as he knows that the type of voter he will likely attract will put it down to further 'political correctness gone mad'. In fact, the whole thing has just served to provide them with more publicity, I'm sure they are very pleased with the whole episode.
  10. He's not exempt. They choose not to prosecute, you can only assume they took the opinion of the player he punched into account. If he's broken the law though, the opinion of the player is not the overriding factor. The only argument I can see against it is that it's not in the public interest and that the internal fine and suspension should be sufficient. Personally, I have to say that in this situation I don't think it's adequate.
  11. Because if Russia loses its strategically important Black Sea ports it loses an awful lot militarily. If Ukraine joined NATO as the government desires, NATO would surely insist on the removal of the Russian presence. The Ukraine situation has never been about safeguarding ethnic Russians, they are just pawns in Putin's game. I'd also argue it's about a potential land grab and the public perception of Putin in Russia as the Russian public seem very much behind the idea of defending ethnic Russians against Ukraine and their new allies. Either way I'm not sure sending troops into a neighbouring country as well as supplying and training rebels in said country could ever be seen as a defensive strategy.
  12. Whilst I have sympathy with (and often agree with) much of what you post, Peter, I simply don't/can't on this. In respect of current actions in the Ukraine, I mean, not everywhere at all times.
  13. Is it only me who can foresee this thread being used as evidence in court someday?
  14. He's 25 next week and he's well past the age where he can be considered a prospect. He's nowhere near good enough for where we want to be and seems to even have fallen behind Baker.

    Thailand

At one point the Vietnamese embassy in Bangkok had mine for about 4 days. I don't think I even had a copy of mine during that time. Incidentally, I'm fairly certain there's a small Vietnamese boy running around some village with my name now.
  16. There were rumours his salary was only £36,000 a year something like that with all of his "real wages" being bonuses based on league position. Judging by his teams performance whenever they've looked to push the top 6 he must get a bonus for not qualifying for the Europa League.
  17. 'The bird' is Amy Lawrence, I think she's definitely one of the better journos out there. It was Sean Ingle who was saying that we could well finish between 12th and 15th and to be honest I agree with him. We've done brilliantly so far this season but I'd still be happy getting a decent mid table finish considering we've been outspent by nearly every team in the league.
  18. I thought the same but think he was also ex RAF so they will try and use that as justification I'm sure. Not sure they care about justification. Journo, aid worker, doctor, whatever, it's propaganda intended to boost recruitment of radical muslims in my opinion.
  19. Think it says a lot about Senderos' influence that we are so well marshalled at the back, even with Baker in the side rather than Vlaar. Credit to Baker too, he was excellent and that block at the end of the first half probably was the difference between winning and losing.
  20. Not sure, I only know that he defence was that he was keeping it for his father and somehow he must have got away with it.
  21. Pfft, how could you miss out Havnar Bóltfelag, easiest one of the lot that.
  22. Found not guilty of that and firing a gun out of his sunroof although he was found guilty of firing a gun in a public place, I believe.
  23. Nice to see a couple of VTers get in on the Mirror story. As for the replies to the Q&A, top bantz all round, clearly.
  24. Not sure why there's surprise over people being happy he's signed. He's a Villa fan who has been with us for his entire career. He's not as consistent as he should be and he's definitely a player who may well find himself warming the bench for at least part of the season but ultimately fans will always be keen to have players around the club who have a connection to it and have come through the ranks.

    Thailand

I've been to Koh Chang, it's more popular with Thai tourist but has a lot of nice luxury resorts. I went during wet season though and it was really quiet, I'd imagine it would be a lot busier in November though.
