  1. Playing with one striker most of the season (Emily Gielnik) and not much else in reserve left us badly short. I don’t think Gielnik has worked out either from the games I watched, I really wasn’t impressed with her. Carla Ward I’m sure will rectify this over the summer.
  2. Any decent cup run would be great and I’ll take reaching another final. It’s long overdue. However, if Purslow sanctions another £100m spend this summer and we finish 11th or below, then yes I’m sure Purslow and Gerrard will both consider it a failed season.
  3. Anything outside of a top ten finish next season will definitely be failure. End of the season right now can’t come soon enough for Gerrard and the players. Hopefully we beat Burnley this week.
  4. Sanson will go this this summer if anything remotely suitable is offered. Luiz may force our hand to sell him, perhaps Carney also. However, and this is probably a little controversial but I’d be willing to listen to offers for McGinn and Nakamba. Not sure if we can have that much change from our crop of midfielders and with the squad as a whole but it’s needed. Minimum of two new midfielders need to be found this summer, possibly three. Crucial puzzle for Gerrard to solve that could ultimately be the difference between success and failure next season.
  5. I still don’t know how Everton managed to beat Man Utd, Leicester and Chelsea in the last month or so?
  6. Quite a lot of overreactions on here. We didn’t lose the game. It was a typical end of season game with two teams who have nothing to play for. It happens. Wolves only drew with Norwich at home today. We didn’t deserve to win for sure but were rarely in trouble throughout until another lapse, which cost us three points. We were flat and that’s the disappointment. End of the season can’t come soon enough for the players and Gerrard.
  7. Could keep them up that late goal. Gutted.
  8. Two teams who didn’t really fancy this one by the looks of it. Draw was probably a fair result. Disappointing.
  9. Only ourselves to blame, we’ve looked so flat today.
  10. Ramsey looks to have benefited from a break. Looks strong and driving forward again.
  11. Digne is such a threat coming forward. So different to Targett.
  12. Can’t see Burnley getting anything now out of this. They may as well go for it second half though because goal difference doesn’t matter.
  13. If it was a simple choice, Isak or Abraham? I really wouldn’t know who’s the better player or fit for a team like us?
  14. Not sure I agree with the bold part. In France especially, bread is relatively cheap compared to England and is of far better quality. Whether from a supermarket or from a back of a van. I do agree though that most supermarket standard bread here is pretty poor stuff.
  15. I don’t think we even start talking to West Ham or whoever unless between £50-55m is offered. Even then, I would consider it be an opening offer. Another thing to consider here is Watkins himself may fancy a move back down south. I could be wrong but wasn’t there talk of his girlfriend wanting to be closer to London?
  16. Totally agree. Looking back, Dean Saunders felt like a big one, Collymore also, but not as big as this. We could be watching the World Cup final at the end of the year and the man running the show in midfield being ours! Totally unreal.
  17. Personally I think Luiz is our best “passing” midfielder right now. Ramsey and McGinn have a lot of other qualities but I don’t believe passing is their best attribute. Will be a shame to lose Dougie this summer just when we might finally sort out a defensive midfielder.
  18. Never really been a fan of a Sunday afternoon game at Villa Park as the atmosphere tends to be a little flat and much prefer a game under the lights. However, with Coutinho signing in permanently, it may just change that. Gerrard vs Vieira was a good clash when they played on the pitch and will probably be a good clash on the touch line for a few years to come. They have some real good attacking players, with trickery and pace, so won’t be easy. However, they’ve had some indifferent performances, so more than beatable. A couple of changes would be good again to keep the team fresh and one may be enforced if Watkins doesn’t make it. Whether it’s 4-3-2-1 or 4-1-3-2, I’d like to see Coutinho and Buendia back together, especially if we can get another hour out of Nakamba. McGinn probably deserves a rest, with Carney coming in. Let’’s see if dangling a carrot to him again, gets him to sign his contract. Martinez Cash Chambers Mings Digne Nakamba Carney Luiz Buendia Coutinho Ings Subs: Olsen, Konsa, Young, Iroegbunam, Sanson, McGinn, Bailey, Traore, (Watkins or J Ramsey). Going to say 2-1 win.
  19. It’s interesting this. Would shirt sales with name and number bring us much revenue right now and each season he’s with us? Cost of a shirt or full kit, plus approximately £15 to have his name and number on the back.
  20. Contract or not, I’d start him against Palace this weekend. By no means is it dropping McGinn, but with another couple of games in 7 days, McGinn can rest this one out.
  21. Absolutely selling your soul just to create cash and additional exposure in Saudi Arabia? They may break into the elite clubs in the next couple of seasons but it all stinks and not sure how happy I’d be with it if I supported them. Thank goodness for NSWE.
  22. This all seems rather nice.
  23. Incredible business and is a real statement for next season and beyond. An elite player still in his prime. Amazing, truly amazing. Credit to Steven Gerrard here for attracting such a talented player. Thanks Steve.
