  1. The biggest risk for me is that he moves to a club like Dortmund. They have a proven track of developing younger players on a big stage. I'm not convinced that any other club in the prem is giving him more minutes than we have. It's a really difficult predicament as he simply hasnt performed well enough to justify more minutes imo
  2. JJ developed hugely in the last year, particularly his physicality. Having watched Aaron a number of times, I'd suggest he will need to do similar and then we will know whether he has a chance. By all accounts his attitude and mentality are good, he's also got a great role model in his brother. My one worry for Aaron is that as the club's progresses (hopefully) he will need to make his breakthrough into a much stronger team. He typically plays further forwards as well which is where clubs tend to spend their money.
  3. That is how it worked last year but in blocks of 500.
  4. So where does he need to play, it's sounds like you'd want him as a 10. In which case he needs to be better than Coutinho and Buendia. I agree that he's sacrificed his natural game. I think that is partly for the team and partly because we've got better options in the areas that he's strong.
  5. Relocated from L6 to L3, much higher up but looking forward to watching both halves of the game. Phone ticket office at 10 on the dot and got straight through to someone.
  6. Not sure if we in or out but. 2 weeks ago we were leading the chase, SG goes on holiday and declares he'll have a bit of a break, SG still on holiday but now were no longer interested.
  7. Seems unfair to put trez in with Bosko or Hogan.
  8. Decent championship striker, did well for the club but not where we want to be. If you still think he could do a job for villa, ask yourself if Arsenal or West Ham would sign him. These are clubs we want to move beyond.
  9. If it is, I'll post some more thoughts about transfer targets
  10. I don't think were signing him, purely on the basis that he's available and we haven't done it yet. The rest of our business is so quick and this wouldn't be complicated.
  11. I don't think it's too defensive. SG obviously sees the full backs playing very high up the pitch, I wouldn't be surprised to see two new defensive midfielders who can provide much needed cover and shape.
  12. Thought he was very good today, seemed to play deeper, almost in a 4 man midfield in the first half and was always on the ball. Looked very up for it, needs more time with our team so they start to understand the runs he will make. Often appears at the edge of the box but his team mates don't find him.
  13. I'll be interested to see, agree a move to a German club would certainly suggest it's about development. I still think he's had very good opportunity here.
  14. Why don't people think this is about money? 1. Hes had a reasonable amount of playing time. 2. He can likely see a pathway into the first team following examples like JJ, Grealish. 3. The links to bigger clubs with more established wage structures. Everything points to money to me, what am missing
  15. Great spell, I'd like to see him out on loan for a season to a top championship club, someone that can give him a chance to score 20 or more in a season.
  16. Wouldn't be surprised by the draw. I think we will set up to contain them, don't think SG will go for it.
  17. The answer is surely to sign and buy even better players to play alongside him.
  18. Compared to other clubs I still think it's good value just feels like a steep rise for some as others have said. I've renewed but will now look to relocate to better seats in the holte when I can.
  19. I'm sure I paid about 440 last year for me and my lad, now I'm over 600. Expected some price increase, seems just a bigger shift than I was thinking.
  20. Great tip, Ive just asked my son and now know who that is. Will drop him a message
  21. A shameful request for help from my fellow VTers. At the end of the recent Villa Norwich game my son was lucky enough to be thrown the match ball (or one of them anyway) from Tyrone. He is absolutely made up and has slept with it every night since. Unfortunately as a dad the wrong side of 40 I was more interested in singing than capturing the moment on video. I wondered if any others may have accidentally recorded this and wouldn't mind sharing, we sit in the lower holte end. Ps he's not a sign taker, just lucky enough to be picked out, I'm not a fan of the begging signs, begging posts are fine though. PPS many others have already shared the "first time Mings has picked out someone in a villa shirt" so we're going to need something a little more original than that.
  22. A great day for him and he certainly didn't let himself down. I'd like to see a few more starts between now and the end of the season and then a solid loan next year. I really hope that this position is a strong priority for us next year.
  23. Always impressed when I watch him, just feels solid. He also gives us another option to play out from the back, for some reason Konsa doesn't seem trusted with this.
