  1. i know, im clearly a little facetious, clearly we have a big push to drive up revenue, the club will be comparing us with the money Brighton are generating on player sales, the money spurs are generating from their stadium and we are lagging a long way behind. Raising ticket prices and player sales will continue to be drivers im sure, at the same time, it doesnt make sense to me to that we would turn down something easy like a stadium sponsor. I cant stand the logo on our home shirt, but its become a widely accepted thing. A name in front of villa park is money for nothing as far as im concerned.
  2. if it means my season ticket doesnt go up by 20% next year, they can call it what they want. Ill still call it Villa Park
  3. best place for him, more week for all of the knee specialists we are currently recruiting.
  4. arguably pre Unai, people would have drawn many parallels between Mings and Maguire, many concluding that Maguire is the better player. Like many others i see the mistakes, Maguire does add to the leadership and organisation gaps that Mings has left us with. I wonder under Unai if we could see the rate of development that Mings has shown?
  5. fascinating insight, thank you. Please continue to share knowing that many really enjoy these posts
  6. Worrying how slow he looked. Decent with the ball but teams may target the ball in behind him if he's stood on the half way line.
  7. When people talk about finishing top 4, I always tell them that it will never give them the feelings you describe above. I've seen us win two trophies, two of the best days of my life.
  8. I think most fans did indicate they wanted this. They just didn't want the prices that it comes with or anticipate it being a season ticket option for those on the waiting list.
  9. I think he'll benefit from playing opposite another wide player. He's often isolated on the wing with no support from a deep lying full back. I thought it was interesting that he really encourage Diaby to come, Leon obviously doesn't read the message boards
  10. That's good to know, I stand the whole time at the moment, I've got a good few years yet but I also don't think it's right if people have to move.
  11. but we at least took good money for Chuck. Outside of that, Cahill was the only one that probably could have had a buy back clause. Other than that, the young players generally just disappear from footy.
  12. this isnt really where the all of the time has come from. They looked at the number of minutes the ball is in play in a game and found it was reducing each season. In league 2 last year the ball was only in play for 48 minutes. They also look at the average stoppage time for a goal, this is now 60 seconds where as only 30 was being allowed, the same for substitutes. Obviously they also want to address obvious cheating and gamesmanship, but the majority of the changes dont relate to time wasting, just a fairer distribution of added time. Im a fan (except when Emi starts getting booked).
  13. Im struggling to think of anyone that weve got this wrong for, any kids that didnt get the playing time and went off to better things. Cahill is probably the only one in my mind. Im that basis this just seems a smarter way of moving on youth players who probably wont be good enough but giving ourselves an insurance policy.
  14. Id hope not, im all for some safe standing in a lot of places but i dont think people should be excluded if they do not want/cannot stand for the entire game.
  15. I think Olly cannot play every game, certainly not with our conference fixture list. Im sure i saw someone say we could realistically play 30 games before xmas. I think Ollie played 39 game last season. I would not want Archer to leave without an adequate replacement.
  16. My assumption is he was one option but maybe not preferred (Torres, Felix may have been higher). Or we had a certain budget and needed to see if we could move on others first or didn't know how much we would spend on Diaby etc. I always hope we start the window with a huge list of well thought out options.
  17. Has anyone spoken about the buy back clause. The only basis for comparison we have is Dougie Luiz I think. His fee from city was c15m and I'm sure we always thought the buy back was 30-35m. I'm assuming Ramsey will be the same. It feels a lot but I suppose it has to be worth it for Burnley to agree it.
  18. I think there is something in that around property and landlords. So many large pension funds are heavily invested in buildings that are leased commercially.
  19. I work in a leadership role within banking (one for the tory board) so i am quite torn between thinking about whats best for our organisation and whats best for me. Its not also lost on me that a couple of us are tapping away on VT during the working day
  20. dont miss those days, a lot of my work is with India and they are largely back in offices now, during covid you would see some working conditions that really made me question how people get anything done. My general position is that its more productive for people to be in an office when working, my personal position is that i dont want to start commuting 2 hours a day again.
  21. The other thing i notice a lot more at the moment, its really hard to be productive at home during the school holidays. Im lucky enough to have an office but the kids are still running in and out, you get distracted by the noise and its very hard to stay focus. I suspect a lot of people have taken to opportunity to save money on child care which does come at the detriment of productivity.
