  1. Would seem odd to let Bidace go for not a lot and bring back Barry. Suspect this is bollocks, if the goals continue though maybe a league one move in Jan. Nice to see him settling.
  2. Not understanding the obsession with the rotation last night. Yes chambers was poor playing out of position but digne and kamara were two of the worst performers, both regulars. Duran came in and scored. Tielemans and Bailey can hardly be considered kids rotation options as either could start at the weekend and no one would really be surprised. Time to just accept it's about poor mistakes at the back. The same thing that has been happening all season and it's the thing that really needs sorting.
  3. just always surprises me more arent like it. We often see Diaby, Bailey, Watkins playing either side. Same for Mcginn and Ramsey, were told Carlos prefers to play left side as a right footed centre half. Whats so special about full backs that means they can only play in one single position. Time to encourage a bit more versatility from them. Its ok for us to stick an out of practise centre half at full back and then rip him apart for not being good enough, i would always assume asking someone to play the same role but on the other side is a lot easier. (this is a collective criticism of full backs, not just the villa ones)
  4. i often wonder why Digne/Moreno arent capable of playing right back. Ashely Young didnt struggle, both seem comfortable with their feet. It may limit you in the final third but in the defensive work why are more players not able to play either side?
  5. It's one game and wasn't really a huge surprise to me. We were poor Defensively as we have been all season and we play in a style that can be exploited by pace in behind. I dont blame the players coming in from the cold either. I don't think you can sit on a bench for weeks and then perform at your optimum in a one off game. If we want to better manage a squad, we'll need to include those players more. Allow them to build relationships. Warsaw looked good, now we get to correct the mistakes against chelses
  6. for a bit of comparison. Im attending an NFL game at Wembley in a couple of weeks £100 a ticket. I recently bought england t20 tickets for next year, £75. Neither include food. My local cineworld has a VIP option with unlimited food. Thats about £25 (so £15 on top of the ticket). Still trying to work out if this represents value? I think its probably bang in the middle and will offer a decent return for the club.
  7. have we had a target return date from the club yet?
  8. it also doesnt specify not. I would also find it very odd but the current wording says drinks are included and maybe it isnt actually the worst priced initiative weve seen from villa.
  9. while i agree, it does say it will include food and drinks.
  10. renewed my ST as i still think its ok value and i just love the day out with my 13 year old lad. I didnt take the Everton game but did take the european package. Oddly if i didnt have my ST, i doubt i would go to as many games. I still spend money around the ground on drinks and food and the clubshop costs me more than i would like it to. Overall i feel like i get decent value.
  11. I read this as drinks are included. For an adult ticket with unlimited foot and drink, its not decent value. It doesnt work for me if im driving and ive got a kid with me. The Lower Grounds will open its doors to a fan-focused experience, which will include food and drinks as part of the package, for the first time against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, September 30.
  12. also my worry, hes traditionally been at clubs for a couple of years, the average for all prem managers is probably less than a couple recently, he will have different things he wants to achieve i hope we have a good progression plan. Just assuming he loves it here and will stay for ever is the type of planning thats got us in a mess for the last few years. Id rather the club understood his goals, when he was likely to move and made sure they are ready to move. Brighton are probably one of the best examples of this in recent years.
  13. i remember being so confused when we signed him, 20m on a player i hadnt really heard of when we had Tom Heaton (solid pro) on the bench. I dont think anyone expected us to be buying a keeper, let alone spending that much on one. What a player though, he almost instantly showed me i knew nothing about football and how much a great keeper could add to a team.
  14. i think he will go strong and i think the players that worked so hard last year will want to play a part. If we can get ahead in the group, we can afford to go weaker at home.
  15. i really dont understand the people who complain about Plane cancellations due to weather or safety issues. Im pretty happy sat safely on the ground thank you.
  16. my sister came over last night with a load of my old match magazines, dug them out of the loft at my folks house. About 10 in amazing condition all from about 89-90. Such a trip down memory lane, brilliant nostalgia. What got me was the open ness of the interviews, not the sort of thing you see today. People talk about moves or ambitions, rather than just giving nicely rehearsed soundbites.
  17. i thought this as well but then i didnt understand why tell the papers. If youre concerned about reliving things through the court system, i dont think thats a patch on the trial by media you go through when talking to the papers. If you talk to the papers, surely the assumption would be it ends in court anyway. (i should also add that your wife has my total sympathy and im just commenting without thinking in an internet forum)
  18. Ollie has always scored in patches, im confident we'll see another. In some ways i see this as a good thing, at the moment the team is scoring so we can afford Ollie to take some time. When the team is struggling is when we will really need Ollies goals.
  19. id swap Luiz for Kamara as he had a bit more of a rest at the weekend. I also think Watkins will start. Go strong in our first away game, we can afford to rest a few more at home if we have started the group well.
  20. i agree, one nil down at the weekend and with Digne getting so high up the pitch, he seemed an obvious change to me. To get no minutes i assume hes not as fit as we all hoped so id be surprised if Moreno got more than a cameo.
  21. I wonder if we will see Moreno, I was really surprised he didn't come on when we were trailing at the weekend which makes me wonder how fit he is. It would be a little odd after a hamstring injury to come straight into the staying line up without a few appearances from the bench to build fitness.
  22. I wouldn't start him away in Poland but I would keep looking to give him minutes. I quite like him hungry from the bench, at the moment he's a perfect impact sub.
  23. Big statement. Looks promising but a long way to go. Not sure he will hit Ashley young mk1 standards.
  24. I'm happy with his performances and contribution, I'd really really love it if he'd get off the mark in the prem as I'm sure would he. I'm not too worried as we seem to have this conversation about Ollie every year.
