smetrov
#THFC are only willing to pay £18m for Benteke! #Villa will not sell for under £25m Looks like the unsettled player will be staying Footy Agent on twitter I wouldn't be surprised if that was close to the truth tbh*. I'd expect Spurs to angle for a compromise of around the £20m mark. I just hope Lerner and Lambert don't budge. Then we get to keep Benteke * Although I don't for a second believe Footy Agent is ITK. Someone also close to the club (I know) says that lambert is livid and wants him gone, Randy and Faulkner want to force him to stay another year but they also want to back the manager, so if the valuation is met he can go. Nobody wants to meet it though. Why would Learner want to force him to stay if the manager doesn't want him and the player doesn't want to be here? That makes no sense. Because its a business and you don't let one of your main assets leave for peanuts Were not a charity If the manager is livid with him and doesn't play him next year we won't get much more than we paid for him in 12 months. I don't believe that rumour is true. If Lambert wanted him gone then the owner would cash in. I disagree with that, fair enough Lambert might want him gone but surely it's in everyone at Villa's interests that he goes for a big a fee as possible. Exact same reason why we want £Xm for Darren Bent and he hasn't gone to Newcastle yet. Maybe not. Lambo may find himself with only £8m to replace CB - not matter what the fee received. So from his point of view the sooner the deal gets done the better - he has more time to get his replacementr in

Zatman
no big club will pay big money go for a guy with 1 year experience. Even Rooney had 2 and Euro 2004 before United bought him Not necessarily. you have an example of one? Us buying Benteke for starters. £7m is a lot of money to spend on a young, completely unproven striker from Belgium. not a great comparison

privateer
PL does want him gone and the board have backed him as otherwise there stance would have been he's not for sale, however they also realise how valuable an asset Benteke is so the fee is non-negotiable. If CB does not get his move due to fee then he has a lot of making up to do. Yep, I'd go along with that, I can easily envisage PL is livid - especially if the word of him reneging on signing a new contract despite twice saying he would sign up is true. I can see the board being pissed off with him as well and will fully understand the necessity not to be rolled over by players, agents and other clubs if we are to get anywhere. I would expect the discussion with PL has been something along the lines of: "We all think he's an arsehole. You want him out of your squad, we understand. We have to factor a few other things in and we are sticking a big price on him that will be non-negotiable. If he goes, we're all happy. If he doesn't, do what you want to. We won't ask you to play him or include him in any squads, let him train with the kids. We'll swallow the 20k a week wages until a deal comes up we are prepared to go for."

Pretty much bang on the money. PF and Randy see him as an asset at the end of the day and will not let him go cheaply.
Rob182
Well considering that the only actual facts that we have are that Benteke has put in a transfer request .... and Villa expect CB to remain our player unless our valuation is met .... we've spent many happy (or frustrating) hours discussing and inventing outcomes. As much as I've enjoyed it, I'm now going to go away and wait until the situation is finally resolved one way or another. Too much speculation is giving me brain ache. UTV!!!! You'll be back
Ulver
It will be interesting to hear how the players react to Benteke coming back. From looking at the matches on AVTV, it looks obvious that the group are very tight knit. I don't think he will be welcomed back with open arms at all. I would imagine they, being footballers themselves and not supporters wont give a flying **** about the situation. To them he's a team mate and a friend. They all know this is football and this is what happens. And no doubt it'll happen to more than a few more of the group over the next few years too He'll be fine
SikhInTrinity
The players will be fine, but its the manager who he'll be afraid of facing in my opinion and hence he wants his move done quick.

This time last year, plenty of people were saying £7m was a gamble for a very raw player.

What the hell is going on with some people? He has a value and we want to be paid that value and no less. As for getting it done in a reasonable time, that is what the deadline is for. We must stick to our guns, as we have every right, and if they don't pay then they can fuuck right off. You don't get him unless you pay. We're not a chairty. Grievemeister
If the rumour is that Lambert is really pissed off with him and wants him out, and Levy the Cock doesnt come up with the goods, this could truly f*ck up his career. Cause Lambert won't want him anywhere near the first team. Personally for me, he is one away from Suarez, Anelka and Tevez! Everything I despise in a footballer. Rob182
I just hope Lerner and Lambert don't budge. Then we get to keep Benteke I hope this too. It'll be interesting to see how the fans, players and manager react to him though. I'm sure we'll see the usual 'Everything is great' reports on the OS, but the fan reactions in friendlies will be the most telling. Will some fans boo him? (I'd be suprised if a few didn't). Football is entertainment, and even though it feels like a drama for Villa, it's definately entertaining!
praisedmambo
So far we have had loads of people totally make up transfer fee figures and wage offer figures. Are Spurs really offer two/three times what we are? Nobody knows. Why do people just make things up, arrrrgh! Not really made up - in all probability spurs are going to bid upwards of £20m and offer him up to £70k in wages - Villa have probably offered up to £50k - Which Benteke has porobably rejected. Lots of probabilities, and speculation - but thats whats forums are for - once all the facts are official - we will swiftly move on to speculate aboiut something else Lol. So, this man made everything up.
