I do want to believe in survival and the board not being complete numpties but my optimism guage is currently set at 'glass doesn't come into it, pass me the bottle'.

Hopefully a few more days like today bring back the optimist in me.

Same here - all I'm saying is that the board aren't going to sack Garde if we go on a good run between now and the end of the season.

I hope you're right but I wouldn't be suprised if they did.

I like Garde and hope he is in charge next season but think the odds are against it, for whatever reason.

I'd be intrigued if anyone comes up with a formula that has us staying up without beating Newcastle at home.

For me that simply is a game we have to win so if you bank on us doing and add the 3 points now then the task is much better, 5 points off Newcastle with 12 games to go.

They still have many tough fixtures home and away left but we simply must capitalise on weekends when they lose whoever we're playing otherwise the gap will just stay as it is and the games will run out.

I like this way of looking at things, if we finish above Newcastle we'll stay up IMO

On a positive note we are only 1 pt worse off than Leicester were at this stage last season so if we can do what Leicester did we will probably stay up. However I don't think we have the players to do that.

It's hugely, staggeringly unlikely. Today we went from something like a 0.1% chance to maybe a 0.5% chance. Beating Liverpool next weekend is vital - we suck away from home, so most of our points will have to come at VP, and Liverpool are pretty rank at the back. If we beat them I'd peg us at something like a 3-4% chance which would be a significant improvement but still incredibly unlikely.

What Leicester did was a miracle. We're aiming to do something similar yet slightly more challenging, but with clearly worse players.

We are still up shit creek without a paddle but we still have a small chance unfortunately not getting in any player's in January means we need Gabby to find the best form of his life.

Still on the plus side at least we aren't waiting for any new players to settle in....maybe this was the Hollis CI plan??????

If we win against Liverpool, we would definitly have a chance. Only 3 points than we were last season at the same stage. We ended the season 3 points above from safety with two to go.

Win this and its most likely 10 points to West Brom.

There is a good chance it will be one points to Sunderland, 4 to Norwich and 5 to Newcastle.

Thats if we could win against Liverpool which is possible.

Those 3 are yet to play each other andare yet to play Swansea, so there are couple of six pointers to be played thats without counting Bournmouth, who are in a good form atm the moment yet could go in a bad run too although they have a good players.

A winning against Liverpool would be crucial, if we win that I could see us safe by the end of May. On the mental game we might handle it better than other teams if we got back to the mix. Ofcourse we prefer other results to go our way which would only help.

They also got to 14th with 41pts - would take 17th with 38pts ;)

Premier League TV Rights Money Distribution (2016-19)

FEBRUARY 11, 2015 BY TOTALSPORTEK

Premier League TV rights money distribution

If there was any doubt that Premier League is not only the most watched league in the world but also the richest in terms of revenue all around specially from the TV rights deal, these doubts has been erased with the new three year domestic deal which Premier League secured this week with a staggering £5.136 billion over the next three years from 2016-17 season to 2018-19. Today we take a look at the numbers on both domestic and oversees deals plus smaller deals like highlights packages etc and see how much in total Premier League will get from the new TV deal plus how the money will be distributed among 20 premier league sides in next three years. But first lets take  look how the premier league UK TV rights deal was sold and what is expected from oversees deal.

Premier League TV Rights Deal 2016-2019:

After a intense week of bidding war between UK based channels and foreign networks, SkySports and BT Sports retained their Premier League live match packages just like the last deal but at significant higher price with total increase of around 70% compared to last tv deal while BBC also splashed out 13% more on retaining Highlight package and secured the future of “Match of the Day” Now lets take look at numbers game of the domestic deal.

Total cost of the three-season Domestic TV Rights Money – £5.50 billion

  1. SkySports Packages (5 package 126 live games) – £4.2 billion
  2. BTsports Packages (2 packages 42 live games) – £960 million
  3. BBC Match Of the Day Highlights Deal – £204 million
  4. other bits like sun goal app and uk media rights – £150 million

Here is a short summary on how the tv rights were sold among BT Sports and SkySports, when the matches will be shown and what packages both channels bought. Give you slight idea on how lucarative this deal is for premier league.

Premier League TV Rights 2016-2019 domestic rights deal

Oversees TV Rights Deal (Expected) – £3 billion

The 2013-16 oversees deal was worth around £2 billion and it is sure to increase for the next three year period 2016-19 according to experts the new oversees tv rights deal sale should reach over £3 billion easily which means a total of around £8.5 billion is expected from the combined domestic + Oversee tv rights deal.

TV Rights Money Distribution Among Premier League Clubs:

Unlike other big leauges around europe, in premier league tv rights money and prize money is distributed among all 20 premier league sides equally. Lets take a look how the system works.

Premier League Prize Money Pool:

The premier league prize money pool is setup with two portions of money.

  • A ) Domestic TV rights deal money
  • B)Oversees TV rights Deal money

I will try to explain how both sets of rights deal are distributed between 20 premier league clubs.

A) Domestic TV rights deal distribution:

So the money from domestic rights deal will be divided according to the following formula.

  1. 50% Divided equally among 20 premier league clubs
  2. 25% merit money, and distributed among 20 clubs according to final league position.
  3. 25% Facility Fee, is given out to clubs for live televised matches in UK. The more live matches a team feature more money is awarded For example with the current deal £750,000 is given each time a team features in a live match. Last season Manchester United featured in 25 live matches so facility fee was 25x£750k= 18.7 million.
B) Oversees TV rights Deal Distribution:

100% of oversees tv rights deal money is distributed equally among all teams. last year £32 million was given to every premier league club.

TV Money Distribution Infograph:

How the Premier League Money will be distributed among 20 premier league clubs from season 2016-17 to 2018-19. The infograph has details on the the portion of prize money which will be shared equally and the one which will be shared according the merit and how many matches will be shown live on tv of a specific club.

They showed the cost of their team on MOTD. The combined cost was little over 22 million. Our team cost more than that
