Condimentalist
He'll be 4th choice now so I expect him to get some minutes here and there. Expecting him to become our saviour might be a bit much.
Isa
He'll probably be 5th choice behind Herd but if one or more of Vlaar/Baker/Herd pick up knocks (which isn't that unlikely) then he could get some game-time for sure.
Condimentalist
Herd at RB is OK, the thought of him at centre half makes me shudder.
kevangrealish
Head over to the okore thread where you can throw up at the idea of bacuna at CB.
Big_John_10
He looked decent in pre season and I'd like to see a bit of pace in defence. I'd imagine he'll get a chance this year.
mikeyp102
Never seen him play (bar brief highlights from a pre season game). Heard he is very fast and mr McGrath himself knows that we need a bit of pace at cb.
mikeyp102
Be interesting to see if he gets a match day squad place now vlaar injured. Think he would be a better option than herd for sub cb

Think he would be a better option than herd for sub cb Agree. He seems to have good instincts as well, a bit like Okore. Can't say I've seen all that much of him though, but what I have seen has been very good, like Future Star very good.
sir_gary_cahill
Would love to see him get a place on the bench, very nice guy, good player too
Nigel Posted December 5, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted December 5, 2013 Id love to see him as well but I cant see it. Lowton will be the only defender seated, barring any other injuries.
villa-revolution
I'd like to see Donacien make his Premier League bow too, but only after we reach 40pts plus. Lambert will throw him in though if he feels he's ready, no question. As there ever been a more bolder & braver Manager than Paul Lambert?
Isa
Lambert has only given one academy player his league debut since he has been here and that was Derrick Williams for 20 minutes at QPR. So I'd say it is quite unlikely he will be 'thrown in' as much as I would like to see him given a shot.
Morpheus
Any more injuries and Lambert might not have a choice in the matter.

I'm not allowed to deride comments that make Lambert sound like Mel Gibson in Brave Heart? he's got balls to take Given, Hutton and Bent to name but a few out of the picture in favour of younger cheaper players, but in terms of our golden generation of youth - none have actually been given more than a passing sniff of football. You'd think Daniel Johnson at least would have started a game by now, the amount of squads he has been in. I would love to see Robinson, Donacien, Burke and Johnson get a chance. I know it's too soon for Grealish and Graham but again it is always exciting seeing a manager blood new players. Even though there is an very outside chance he will become a good player for us I still don't get excited about seeing Bowery...... or even Herd on the squad sheet.
AVTuco Posted December 7, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted December 7, 2013 Just a remark: It must be a bit deflating to the youngsters you mention, when they see Lambo bring in half a squad of projects from the outside.
