Van Gaal also looking at Mats Hummels. He's another that is probably too good. Not sure what their solution is at centre-back. It's the key position in the team and would be worrying if they can't get in two Mangala or Hummels let alone one.
Rovers13
Tottenham have signed vertonghen, Lloris, paulinho and Eriksen in the last couple years. Vertonghen signed for them ahead of arsenal. Without champions league. They're all pretty much top class players. (You can argue paulinho, but he starts for Brazil) and they're not near the size of Man U. Eriksen the same. his reputation had not yet made the transition from youtube videos. Kroos, Fabregas and Pogba are in a different league. Lloris the exception, but he is a keeper. But you were on about Mangala and Hummels, not Kroos or Fabregas or Pogba. A Youtube Video reputation is what exactly? A reputation where most people have only seen you on Youtube? In comparison, I'm pretty sure the majority of English Manchester United fans haven't seen much of Mangala or Hummels, or even Kroos and Pogba for that matter. Davkaus
Tell me about it. Say what you want about the leagues they came from, but they played for Ajax and Corinthians FFS - not to mention regularly playing for Brazil and Belgium - they weren't exactly unknowns. Not one of those players is top class, Lloris is good, Eriksen turns it on once a month, Vertonghen is a defender who doesn't like defending and Paulinho is rubbish. There is a reason top clubs dallied around and they had to settle for Spurs.
Con
Have they sorted out CB yet? It must be a bit concerning for the Man Utd fan. I wouldn't want to go into the season with Smalling, Evans and Jones for cover. Three no.2s when what they need is some no.1s. On the other hand, they look like they have the youth talent to continue to score goals. Wilson, Januzaj and maybe Nick Powell this year will displace Carrick from the midfield. VillaChris
So no A lister joined so far despite half of Bayern Munich being linked (Schwienstiger, Kroos, Mueller, Robben etc). O.k some links there were tenuous but still the lure of CL is pretty important here. I see they were linked with Snjeider today, now that would be desperate. A bit like us signing Joe Cole. The_Rev
Manchester United have been liked with a move for Wesley Sneijder every summer since about 1878.

United need another CB and a CM and they will be a very very good team. Also another LB if Evra completes his move to Juve.

decavfc
Sneijder is over the hill, no where near the player he was. Would be a strange signing for united to get sneijder, considering the attacking talent they have already at their disposal. A lot of players in similar position. vandaq
Sneijder is over the hill, no where near the player he was. Agreed but he was better than I expected for Netherlands in the world cup. Still, would be a bad signing overall for them.
