Yep.

Sometimes I am that guy mind

I get there’s sometimes things to discuss or share, no problem. But you can guarantee every day this guy will download who he spoke to and what they said for his previous 24 hours.

Its like listening to 2 women talking.

My kids (early 30s) reckon they're the last generation to remember the pre-internet, pre-mobile phones era. The photographs thing is pretty major, too. I have hardly any photos from (say) when I was a student, because that would have required carrying an actual camera around (not to mention getting the film developed), and nobody could be arsed to do that.

I've only probably got 10-15 photos of myself younger than 15.  My parents mainly kept slides and a lot have been lost.    I've more from then on because I got my own camera then.  But then again it's usually me taking the pictures, even now!

I bought our first digital camera 18 years ago when my son was born, the most basic thing ever, no screen just a viewfinder.

Getting your holiday snaps developed was such a ball ache.  Would nearly be the next time you wanted to use the camera - and it cost such a lot of money you didn't want to waste an unused picture on your garden or something.   Then they would all come out blurred and badly exposed or something.

It's inconceivable now just to snap away for hours, immediately chuck away what doesn't look right, and not spend a penny more once you've got the device.

Does anyone have that guy in their team, at the end of your team meeting when there’s a round the table quick “everything ok” and he rambles shit only relevant to him for 10 minutes.
Every. Single. Day.

Yep.

"We're out of time so very quickly round the table anyone with anything urgent they need to highlight?"

"no"

"no"

"all good"

"nothing from me"

"Oh just the usual you know. So and so won't place this order so I've had to chase him and then joe bloggs wants me to do that so I'll need to look at that. Got 3 meetings today, one starts at 10 then one straight after so I'll probably be able to squeeze lunch in...

two-hours-later-3-memebase-com-39517632-

...and finally I've got that meeting at 6pm so should be able to log off in time for dinner. But yeah apart form that nothing really"

Early Internet adopters may recall the rather brilliant Rotten.com  ... there was a page on there about a married woman and her boyfriend , who thought the easiest way to solve the problem of her husband was to invite him to the house and then chop him into small pieces ... bizarrely they photographed the event and in a genius move then took the film to their local store to have the photos developed ..

drugs are bad Mkay  ....

Absolutely nailed it Stevo. I pray they come to me for my “all good here cheers” before him so I can bugger off and stop listening.

I must have spent 4 hours on Teams / Zoom calls today along with old fashioned phone calls. I sometimes have a moment where its an almost out of body experience and i'm watching myself talk about 'liquidity' and 'capital ratios' and I think to myself "what's happened to you man, it used to be about fast cars, booze, clubbing and women"

*sigh*

I think I was 18 or 19 when i first went online. Didn't have broadband until I was about 21 at home. Simpler times.

I was about the same age when I got my first mobile... around about 1998/99. Don't think I sent a text for about a year! It was used to call my mates and that was mainly down to novelty value. Now I avoid their calls!

A couple of months ago I found the extra long phone extension lead that we used to use to plug the computer from an upstairs bedroom into the phone socket downstairs so we could use the dial up Internet.

Tried to explain to the kids what it used to be like in those days

Signing up for a month of free dial up with a CD from Freeserve/AOL/Compuserve/Tiscali etc and then running a lead from the kitchen, up the stairs and into my room.

All that for poor quality porn images.

I found out Logica received royalties on every text message back around that time  and bought a load of their shares as you could literally see text messaging gaining popularity every day ... when my mum sent me a text one day I knew I was in a dead cert :)

the share price quadrupled before the inevitable burst after 11/9 , but id long gone by then :)

Then again compared to spending half an hour with your tape recorder screeching at you only for it to crash in the final 5 seconds of Manic Miner loading, it was bliss.
