What would piss me right off would be if the lad dithered over a new contract and then drops the 'I'm off' bombshell 24hrs before the window shuts. If he intends to go, then ok....we'll get over it. But a bit of prior notice would be nice, just so we can blow the wad on a replacement as soon as. Unless Lambert is shrewder than we think and already has a player lined up....like Bony?

Shame if he does bale, but then I seem to recall a few warning salvo's that were fired when we bought him, so it should'nt come as any great surprise.

What will be will be.

Give it time, he's been away on international duty, we are not just going to say here have 100k a week.

We will offer double your money 40k and then he will ask for mega money and it will take time to come to a compromise.

I think by July 1st we will have an outcome, and he will sign a new deal for around 50k a week.

Having been away since the end of the season I haven't had to read all the bullshit on this forum/twitter everyday so I can see why some of you don't care anymore.

It's pretty possible that Benteke's words could just be lost in translation somewhere. He won't say he's staying and he won't say he's going, he will just say 'I don't know' which is what most would say. I think him saying 'I don't think so' could just be down to the fact English isn't his first language, maybe I'm clutching at straws here.

Ill be at Bellagio tonight, really doubt I will ever see him but hopefully I do.

Or it could be bollocks. Or the lad asking the question was mullered, or Benteke misunderstood.

Or it could be true. Who the **** knows, it doesn't matter either way. What will be will be.

hey cmon ppl is this all about a guy who posted a photo on twitter? the only thing wer 100% sure off is this: i would be happy to stay another year at villa but if i go im sure there will have  to be a deal where everyone wins.

give the guy a break. he's not an idiot. he didnt want to respond on press questions he just wanted to go on vacation so why would he tell the first one who asks his future plans?

I would assume that his only minus point is that he listens to his idiotic agent too much.

He's a young lad and I'm willing to cut him a fair amount of slack for that. Also, I wonder what his father's influence is.

Regardless, he's hardly got "Holte End Hero" written on his back as a result. I'd be annoyed if he left rather than gutted. Annoyed because I'd rather the manager had the room to concentrate on other things rather than replacing him, which I also trust Lambert to do for what it's worth.

What has he done wrong, exactly?

He scored 19 goals last season, wants a pay rise...he is currently away on international duty so must wait.

That's where I am with him.

He is on holiday, not international duty.

I hardly think that Benteke would tell some randomer that he isn't going to be at villa next season. Lol..

The only thing that nudges me to think that he may have said it is that the guy in the Photo appears to be a Villa fan who was quite upset about what he was told to the point of saying it had ruined his holiday... Ok of course we don't know whether or not this is reliable but it does look genuine i have to say... Now if CB had come out & said something along the lines of "Oh i am sorry but i really can't say anything" or just smiled, or even simply ignored the question or something then fair enough. But it does seem like he did say " I don't think so"

The thing is "I don't think so" is clearly not a definate "yes" but then it is not a definate "no" either. So in his own way CB may have been trying to be non committal when hit with the question & was perhaps not expecting to be confronted with the question in the 1st place thus gave a badly advised response...My overall impression is that he most likely did say it but actually doesn't know yet whether he will be with us next season or not... I suspect he will be catching up on proceedings with the club & his agent when he returns from holiday but maybe was not too happy with the clubs initial offer of a contract extension prior to departing on his hols?

Who knows but i guess we shall find out soon enough

Guy who posted picture said:

"I personally think looking back it had to be either
1. Lost in translation
2. Him taking the piss
3. Him telling me in a way like 'yeah I don't think so I am not telling you'

Either one of those seem logical as he smiled at me after
You wouldn't smile unless any of those three happened"

If he wants to go he will but we will get a lot of money for him, its that simple. Personally I think he will give us another season.

As for the picture who's to say the bloke in the picture is a Villa fan. Its a cracking wind up if he were, say, a Blues fan.

If some random guy in a casino ask me if i am going to quit my job in the middle of negotiating a payraise, I would'nt tell him Jack shit. And I am not even a famous football player whos future is widely speculated in the press.

Benteke is not going say he is staying because it will give him less worse hand negotiating his new deal, when it gets out all over social media and the press.

I really don't care any more at this stage, but perhaps the guy asked the question in a way that would sound okay to native English speakers, but confuse someone just learning it, like

"Are you staying at Villa Christian, or are you leaving?"

Now, to a native speaker, the question was the first bit, the "Are you staying at Villa Christian" part. That's the bit you answer. The second bit is just a weird verbal thing we do when asking a question. To a foreigner, it would appear that the bit to answer is the last half of the question, the "or are you leaving?". IF the question was asked like that, it's possible the "I don't think so" was in answer to "or are you leaving"
