Zatman
a 40% goal return would be incredible if he plays WITH Benteke (assuming Benteke keeps up his return too) throw in Gabby keeping his end of season form and Tonev banging a few long rangers. drooling
CVByrne
I think N'Zogbia will stay too, so we've him, Gabby, Tonev, Weimann, Benteke & Helenius competing for the 3 forward positions. Competition is always good.

Popular Post Aalborg BK
Hi Sorry for my rather bad english skills. As an AaB supporter I would like to give you a short review of Nicklas Helenius Jensen. Usually called Helenius as Jensen is a very common surname in Denmark. Congratulations on signing Helenius. Despetite of what being said, Helenius is a very good striker. In my view Helenius is way better than Cornelius and Makienok. Being the MVP of the Superliga the last two seasons (goals/assist) Helenius certainly is not to be underestimated. Helenius is a very different striker than Cornelius and Makienok. Cornelius and Makienok are both very tall and very strong. They are monstrosities in the aeriel play, actually they would both be ideal candidates at a team like Stoke City. Despite being tall Helenius is technically gifted and has a great shot with his right foot. Unfortunally his left foot is not so good, but that being said he have made some decent goals with his left foot. Despite being very tall (1,96 m) Helenius is certainly not a traditional target player. Helenius is at best below average when it comes to the aerial play (Premier League level). Actually Helenius made his first goal in aerial play in game nr. 95 out of 102 appearences for Aalborg BK! (I guess you can imagine the disbelief among the supporters when Helenius finally succeded). It have been a big weakness, but in the recent year Helenius have improved in the aerial play. In the last 3 seasons Helenius have missed a lot of chances because he have been so weak in the aerial play. In order to compete in Premier League he certainlly have to improve more at this point. He also need to build on some more muscles and adapt to the pace of the PL. When introduced in the first team Helenius were criticiced. He was tall, slim/slender, had a weak strength, had a funny running style and he looked a bit lazy. Now he is in my view the best striker in Denmark. For some unknown reasons the old tired coach of Denmark (Morten Olsen) prefers other types such as Bendtner, Cornelius and Makienok. You should be happy signing Helenius as Cornelius is highly overrated. Cornelius made a huge impact in the autumn season of the Superliga, but since the winter break he has played awful. Helenius is way better technically and makes great goals and assists. Cornelius only benefits from playing at a team producing a lot of chances. Of course Helenius need time to adapt to PL. He ain´t ready to be in the starting eleven, but given time he will certainly improve and slowly push on for the starting eleven. Among AaB supporters there is very mixed feelings about this transfer. Of course it´s a unique chance when given an offer from a big PL club like Aston Villa, so everybody understands why Helenius is so keen on making a move to AV. Being the star player of AaB it´s a huge loss selling Helenius, especially when the transfer price is said being around 1,2 million £. Aalborg BK have in recent years struggled financially, only escaping bankruptcy by narrow margins. Of course many had hoped of a higher selling price, as PL teams usually payes big money. That being said 1,2 million £ is still a lot of money, but many supporters fears that given the clubs critical economy, that there probably won´t being any money left to buy a decent replacement. That were also the case when the club sold it´s biggest talent in years, Lucas Andersen (17 at the time), in august 2012 to dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam. Aalborg BK won the championship in 2008 and were very succesful in the Champions League (drew 2-2 at Old Trafford and knocked Celtic out), in 2009 AaB lost in the Europe League to Manchester City after a penalty shootout. After that the club almost hit bottom, especially financially. In may 2011 the club were very close of being releagated. AaB were saved by the most miracular espace ever seen as they escaped relegation in the last minute of added time due to a result in another game (on a european level as well I almost guess). Since then things have improved, but the economy is still very fragile.
Biskitt
Thanks for the review and for your input, I do think £1.2m sounds really cheap for him. Hadn't heard of Makienok before but just googled him and he's 6ft 7 ! What is it with Denmark and tall strikers at the moment ?
LondonLax
He only had 12 months left on his contract so the fee was always going to be lower than AaB would have wanted.

HolteExile
Much appreciated Aalborg BK. Sounds not unlike Crouch when he initially joined us. As a tall player, you'd nearly think it would be a given that they're decent in the air. But Crouch -in time- became a very effective player in the English top flight. Not for us, unfortunately. It was his move to Southampton that seemed to get his career going. Doesn't sound like this is a guy who is going to come in and hit the ground running. But patience is the key. Unlike Crouch, he won't be coming in with the pressure of a big fee, so that's a bonus. He'll most likely be a bit part player at first, with not a huge amount expected of him. But in time he can hopefully grow into the role.
SikhInTrinity
His agent saying they are coming next week, so unlikely and think Villa were right when stating 10 days.
Aalborg BK
He only had 12 months left on his contract so the fee was always going to be lower than AaB would have wanted. Several times Helenius have made it clear that he wanted to be sold this summer. He have refused to extend his contract, which of course with only 12 months left this summer, is having a negative impact on the selling price. It´s been a problem in years that Aalborg BK are selling key players at low prices. Being located far away from Copenhagen players and the club itself, tends to get very underestimated by the Danish media which often is located in Copenhagen. That also explains why the press are so busy praising Cornelius (playing at FC Copenhagen) despite having obvious weaknesses. Helenius is a better striker! Alakagom
Please don't compare Helenius to Crouch!!! Helenius is not awkward on the ball. He can play some great passing and football.

Although Helenius might look like Crouch, he is a totally different footballer. Helenius is weak in the air, but are instead technically gifted and have scored some memorable goals especially from distance.
Shillzz
How good have the Danish and Dutch been at giving us information about their players?!? Several posters have been an absolute credit to their clubs. I only hope we don't send Con on a goodwill mission to whomever we manage to sell Bannan to. villaglint
Really looking forward to seeing him play. Going to be odd having a 6ft 5 player who can't head!
tarjei
Thanks for coming on here and posting your insight. Reading that I just remembered I was actually at Aalborg's stadium.. it must be almost 15-16 years ago. Hope you can turn it around and knock FCK of their pedestal. Really looking forward to seeing him play. Going to be odd having a 6ft 5 player who can't head! Maybe he'll catch a few mangers and defenders out by being more gifted on the ground than they would expect.
