Ashley Westwood

Westwood is 25, he will be 30 by the time his contract comes to an end.

Do you think he is really bothered about football anymore?

He reached his ceiling after about 4 PL games, we know it and he must surely now know it. What is keeping him motivated really, he has peaked.

Abymsal, utterly abysmal business.

He is a pussy when it comes to making a tackle, but every so often he seems to make a nasty, vicious tackle.

He's a coward. Cowardly off the ball, cowardly on the ball, cowardly when going for a header closing his eyes and turning away from the ball. He makes pathetic reckless cowardly 'tackles' like this a few times a  season to try to convince some fans he's committed.

He's weak.

Yes, one of his main concerns on the football pitch is proving himself to you.

has proven he can play in this league.

Has he?

For the vast majority of his 4 years he's proven inept at this level. Just because you are a regular in arguably the shittest midfield ever to grace this league, it doesn't mean you've proven you can play at this level.

At premiership level he is a truly woeful player who has rarely stood up and been counted on the field of play.

But it's easy to slate him and single him out for abuse, especially when the rest of the team are playing so brilliantly. Oh wait.....

Poor point.

I can't think of one player who hasn't received their fair share of abuse.

Out of all the 'young and hungry' experimental signings, he's probably done the best.

I'd probably put Bacuna above him. But don't disagree with the fact he's up there. Which only goes to show how truly awful that recruitment policy was.

Unlike the others in our squad who have been superb.

Just get off the slate train - it's **** tiring to keep reading your drivel in this thread.  If it was well-reasoned then fine, but it's not.  Just yet another post knocking the same player over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Yawn.

Barely post in here. Anymore. Though you can always not read it.

As I said earlier, such a pathetic point about ppl singling westwood out. They're all getting slated.

Actually called Veretout a poor man's ashley westwood so sorry bobzy, your post is a bit like westwood himself.....utter bollocks ;)

What's become really funny is that the westwood supporters have now resorted to highlighting that the rest of the team is shit as a way of defending him.

Think its about time ppl just admit the truth on this one.

"The supporters" have pretty much always said he's decent enough.  Nothing great, handy at keeping the ball.

With most of the team this season, he's performed badly.  Nothing better or worse than most (apart from Sanchez who has been God-awful yet again).

I know he's a scapegoat on here, but he didn't cost the earth (under £2m - unlike NRC, Makoun, Djemba Djemba, Sidwell, Tonev, N'Zogbia et al) and has proven he can play in this league. Maybe not top four or European challenging teams but certainly mid to lower Premier league and like it or not, that's where we are as a club (although we can dream about being mid-table).

Out of all the 'young and hungry' experimental signings, he's probably done the best and appears to be a decent pro on and off the pitch (haven't known him to tweet pictures of his car or wiping his arse with banknotes!)

When we go down, I'd like us to keep hold of Westwood as he would be an asset in the Championship.

But it's easy to slate him and single him out for abuse, especially when the rest of the team are playing so brilliantly. Oh wait.....

I would hazard a guess he is on about £30k a week now, as he has 'proven' himself a PL player, over 5 years...it's abysmal.

Why do we have to label people as 'pro' or 'supporter' or 'apologist'...???

This isn't a game of who's the better fan or who'se right or wrong.

I know people are still smarting over Sunday and lets face it, the rest of the season but some really do need to realise, it's just a game.
