StefanAVFC
Yeah, I agree. He totally set the world alight at Fulham last season.
KjParton
Obvious trolls are obvious. That Westwood clip you posted Stefan is awesome. I remember watching that during the game and turning to my brother and just saying "wow" - It's not the first time he's done something similar as well! I think it was last season, a ball was way up in the air and he brought it down with such good control and played a decent pass almost a split second after.
StefanAVFC
Newcastle away last year. Ran that game before he went off (unfortunately)
GENTLEMAN
When does Roy name the England squad? Westwood deserves a shot IMO (as does Delph). Edited August 25, 2014 by GENTLEMAN
little_wizard123
So when he keeps the ball moving and doesn't give it away he's "not making any risky passes", yet he created the 3rd most chances for an Englishmen, but then has his assists record criticised. You try passing the ball to Agbonlahor or Weimann. Criticising an assist record when creating so many chances is flawed logic. I think a player who apparently always plays it safe yet creates so many chances from the deep-lying midfielder role is pretty bloody incredible, and not something to be criticised.
Popular Post Dodgyknees
Westwood: He's my favourite player and I tend to watch him closely when Villa are playing, I like to see how he is impacting a game. Westwood tends to be the first to the ball in the defensive area, and one of the first things he tends to do is look up to see which players are in space. One problem is the lack of spacial awareness from the attacking players (Gabby and Weimann), which leads to Westwood playing it simple, usually to Delph who carries/dribbles the ball forward instead. Westwood always looks for a quick pass to Benteke too, with this comes another problem, Westwood's passing is so good it tends to end with Benteke being offside - one of the negatives about his (Benteke's) game. Defensively Westwood could improve, but the problem is he is usually caught out by the lack of holding play from the attacking players - for example how easily Gabby and Weimann lose the ball, meaning Westwood and other players are put under constant stress from the opponents attacking. Westwood cannot move into an offensive area as much as he would like, as the threat of us losing the ball is constant - more so with Benteke/Kozak out of the team. With Sanchez coming in to free Westwood up (Delph too), and with our better attacking players coming back, we will also see even more from Westwood this season. dudevillaisnice
A good summary Dodgyknees. I also think if for example he was playing for Swansea plenty on here would be calling for him to be signed up. We would also look a lot worse without him in midfield in my opinion.
DCJonah
Why do I keep reading about chances created by an Englishman? Isn't that a bit of a pointless stat? He's a premiership player so why just compare him to English players? I'm not having a go at him by the way, I think he has a place in the squad and should start certain games. I just find the use of that stat strange.

Delphinho123
Westwood and Delph have a helluva long way to go before being considered for the national side. Westwood in particular.

I used it myself as I wasn't sure of his position in the league. And it also makes it sound more impressive.

KjParton
Westwood - maybe has some work to do for an England call up. But Delph should have been called up for England at least once last season.
DCJonah
Delph should be given a chance. Can't see it happening for Westwood at the moment.
