at 30 years old, injury prone and error prone, he certainly is not on the list of great defenders to grace villa park.

 

i hope the contract offer has been torn up with the door firmly slammed shut behind him.

 

footballers need to learn that villa isn't a back up option, and villa need to stop acting like one.

He was injured too much, especially in the last season, but he hasn't been a bad player to have at the club. And like I said above, he's been nothing but a model professional. He doesn't get injured on purpose.

 

I don't see why people hate him so much, but it's been obvious since day 1. Remember when people were having a go at him for being upset when we lost a game? Madness.

 

Edit: The hate seems to be because he wasn't as amazing as some people, for whatever reason, thought he would be. It's as if their own inflated expectations of the player have made them dislike him.

Even though he was abit of a prat for what he said I feel for vlaar seems like a genuine nice bloke. Wouldn't be opposed to villa offer him a one year deal I'd it helps him out

I've explained this twice now. Third time lucky?

 

Mainly, the reason I haven't commented on the "hundreds" of Delph posts is because I haven't read most of them.

Secondarily, it's because I don't particularly think it shows a lack of class to be angry or insulting to somebody who acted in the way that Delph has.

 

I do think it shows a lack of class to laugh at a player who was nothing other than professional for us and call him a waste of time for picking up a potentially career limiting injury.

 

If you can't see the difference between the way Vlaar has acted and the way Delph has acted then I can't help you. I'm still not sure of the relevance of the Delph comparison when the situations are so different. Someone like Weimann would be a much better example to use for your comparison.

So he spend most of his career middling about in the dutch league and fighting relegation battles, and at 30 he wanted to secure a good future for his family and enjoy the final few years of his career.

No doubt he has earned a good living from the game but can anyone blame him for trying to secure the best possible deal at this point in his life?

 

He also cost £3m, he played his part on the pitch and I have no doubt, in the dressing room, in keeping us up the first two seasons. Funny how people forget that. Whether he will go down as one of our best defenders is irrelevant. He was worth every **** penny.
