TRS-T
Premier League quality players don't need League One experience I don't even know where to start with this one, sorry. Jesus. I have never seen Luke Shaw, Raheem Sterling, Jack Wilshere, Daniel Sturridge etc playing in League One.

Couldn't someone just as easily make a list of 'famous' players who haven't had a loan outside the premiership? It proves nothing.

How does he know the above listed players didn't need experience outside the Premier League? Maybe that is why they were sent on loan and not introduced straight into the first team. VillaChris
Any loan is good as long as they play regularly and develop, I'd like to see Carruthurs get a proper chance here but still not sure Lambert rates him.
Con
Carruthers is strong (rode three challenges to score his goal at the weekend), physical, great range of passing, can tackle, score and dribble. How much better than Westwood does Lambert need him to be?
VillaChris
Carruthurs don't play centrall though, certainly not as a central midfielder.

Would they have become great players without these experiences? Did Cahill learn anything from his loan or did he learn at Bolton? A loan is good in my opinion, I mean playing for three important points is what it is all about

How much better than Westwood does Lambert need him to be? Considering they are completely different types of players, not at all? It's like asking how well does Kagawa or Powell have to play for Utd to displace Carrick, it doesn't matter as they are different types of midfielders and not like for like switches. villaglint
Can confirm Samir is defo CM these days and Con is right that he's developed a lot since McLeish days much more physicality in his game rather than just being box tricks. Others are right though that he wouldn't be competing with Westwood, he'd be challenging Sylla, KEA and possibly Gardner for box to box role in a middle three
