Saw these at a trade show a few weeks back. Cinema quality camera for a shade over £2100. There's a lot in there, it's taken them a while to sort out niggles with mass producing some of the components. The software is evolving too, were I interested I'd let the early birds find the problems and look at them more seriously nearer the end of the year. Impressive bit of kit for the money though.

Hmmmm, it's everythig else that you would have to add onto that price though to make it worth the time. Probably looking at spending over £4,000 minimum to make it worth buying.

Surely just picking up a mid-range DSLR would do almost the same thing (obviously not as good yet good enough for an amateur filmmaker). The Canon 650D and 7D (plus other similar cameras) can do plenty when it comes to making films.

Sure, but this was a film and broadcast show. It's a proper professional spec piece of kit that's approaching being affordable. It's a pretty big breakthrough at this money.

Looks like a tasty piece of kit, but then I'm a easily tricked by the look of things. I took an age hunting down an early version NOS Olympus Pen Digital. Crap compared with the more up to date competition, but lovely to look at. How I've never bought an Alfa Romeo is a mystery.

I guess as with anything, the true test will be whether it's adopted by the porn industry.

Finally got some readies together for a new camera. Been looking at the D3200 for what seems like ages. So, my question for the panel is, is that still the one to get if I'm looking at circa £500 spend or is there something better in the marketplace now?

Mostly needed for holiday snaps. Upgrading from an eight yr old FZ-something or other which I've enjoyed but is well past it's sell-by date (and horrible in low light).

Any suggestions on where to buy online would be appreciated too.

I love the look of things as well.  I wanted a decent compact system camera for when I didn't fancy lugging my DSLR everywhere, so got a Fujifilm X-E1 with half leather case.  It really does look retro and ace, as well as being a cracking bit of kit.

I have a D3100 and I love it. So I'd say you'd be very happy and well set up for the world of photography. There are a lot of amazing lenses you can get. Nikon 35mm 1.8 is a treat with that body for example. It's not particularly amazing but these shots were taken with that combo http://www.damianbrownphotography.co.uk/index.php/2012/03/birmingham-portrait-photography-marco-el-chef/

I'll be buying a D3100 on payday, next Thursday.

I was down at Portland yesterday, it was indescribably cold, but in line with photo shoot task I've set myself I got out of the car to take a photo.

It was so cold I put my biggest bright yellow padded site jacket on.

A woman and her nipper came over whilst I was taking this photo to ask me how close they were allowed to stand to the edge. In my big yellow coat she obviously mistook me for the Atlantic Warden. But what do you say to someone with a little kid, on a windy day, next to the see on a rocky outcrop that needs somebody else to tell her where is safe and where isn't.

You say: "See that crumbling, wet, greasy slope over there? That one right at the edge of the cliff, where the wind is gusting? That'll be fine, just stand over there".
